fly tying gear

Post by strada-caster »

If anybody wants to sell some fly tying gear or knows someone who does, let me know.

I'm just looking for a cheapo starting set (vice, pliers, book and some thread) to start me off.

Thanks.

the buy, trade and sells here in vancouver and on the island generally have a load of stuff. I've seen ads on the bulletin boards of some tackle shops as well.

I fly-fish as well, no time to tie my own flies though :( Good luck!

This is the place to ask:

Go to the forum and check out either the fly tying area or the classifieds. Tons of stuff.

Cheers,

Ditto for http://fishbcforum.com/, and don’t forget Craiglist.

And if I can't return from Vancouver with my fly tying materials this month, I may just leave everything in a locker at the airport for.....
Not sure yet about all the mixed materials I have in there; chicken capes, deer hides, golden pheasant tips, guinea fowl, grouse, duck, seal/goat/polar bear/llama hair, etc. It's all small amount and well individually sealed, but you never know.

Cheers

Strada,

Glad to see another Delica owner that likes to foam the water with really heavy string :-D

Its a fun hobby , not to mention the feel yu get when you land a 2 pounder on a chronomid you tied yurself.

Cheers

Ya, i figured there'd be a few out here that enjoyed fishing.

usedvic and craigslist are empty for any prospects but I'll try out those other sites mentioned.

I'm still kicking myself for missing out on one setup I saw a couple months back...50 bucks for materials, book and vice.

I'll try and find another deal like that.

BTW, stayed at the San Juan River rec site this last weekend. really nice with the biggest spruce in canada (3.71m dia. and 62.4m tall). didn't catch anything fishing the river but it was the first time I'd ever tried fishing a river. came out with some new knowledge and thats what counts.

Thanks guys.
