Replacing sound system

Has anyone replaced the sound system in a '91 Super Exceed? I'm wondering if you can simply put in a cd deck from here or if there are any weird wiring or signal things to know about....thanks

Satellite radio reciever, 200 bucks at future shop. Tune the dial to 88.1 FM and there you go, new music all the time anywhere. (even 800 kms offshore for those with the submersible Delica option)

I had mine done at Forbidden Audio in Courtenay for about $300.00 and they did a great job. Funny enough I was referred there by the guys at Future Shop as they couldn't figure out the dual Audio Stage system in the Super Exceed.

what they men't was they didn't have a plug that would fit it :D

any CD deck will fit in, i think, (the first one i tried worked.)

just remember the green wire is not the ground. it is for the old light up part (Wired to dash lights) of the old deck.
that probally didnt really help. but I hate wires and i figured it out in about an hr.

"Dual Audio Stage"

My deli had a dual stereo system that lets the kids in the back constantly change the station. This system also came with six speakers, which are really quite high quality for a 15 year old factory option. The arrangement of the two stereos was quite unusual, with the rear set acting as the master and I also think it included the amp. The guys at the audio shop just replaced the front end unit and attached all six speakers to this unit, so the one in the back now does sweet bugger all. I think they also used a Honda harness kit for the install, and it took them several hours to get it right.

I think most Super Exceeds came with this arrangement as the standard option, but someone probably knows better than I.

Does anyone have any info on the Audio Stage system?? I've got one in my Deli but it arrived with a retro-fit JDM sound system and the Audio Stage was not even hooked up. I Replaced the deck with a Pioneer head but would like to use the Audio Stage system with it.

I would say you're out of luck, the audo stage is designed to work specifically with the stock head unit, it controls the unit directly. with any other stereo it is simply taking up space.

whenever I finally get around to replacing my stereo, I will be removing the rear "audio stage" and fitting an inverter in it's place...

thought i'd add my 2 cents. installed a sony deck last week, used a harness from a 1986 toyota pickup factory stereo to bridge the delica harness and the stock stereo wires. lots of time spent tracing, but the info in the link posted on the UK site is bang on.

i had to drill new holes in the mounting brackets about 4 mm below the originals to get it to fit in line with the dashboard cover, but once done it fits perfectly.

There's no need to improvise, you can buy a Mitsubishi harness at nearly any car audio shop.

Ask for Metra 70-1743 harness for Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth/Mits imports 1987-1984. Wire it up to the colour matched wires on your aftermarket deck and it's done. You will also have to drill new holes in the mounting bracket and buy a DIN universal pocket to mount below the deck.

Picked up a deck at Visions with a free install offer. When I brought it in, they said my two factory amps were blown and I would need to re-wire the entire vehicle as all my wiring was amplified. I have a factory deck and no modifications have been made. Sounds like a crock of #&!* to me. Think I'll take the deck and install it on my own. Anyone else have an opinion on this?

I installed a deck in my deli using the wiring diagrams shown in the link in post 2. It had an aftermarket deck and the original harness plug was chopped. I used crimp on connectors. It took about an hour. All six speakers work fine and left is left and right is right and all that. Not too tough. I'de like to get the kareoke system in the back working for the fun of it but I cant find where theychopped the wires to it.
