Newbie in Kelowna

Post by raven8r »

Hi, All!

I finally got to sit in a Delica yesterday and drove it around the block and decided to buy it. I'm pretty pumped! Now I'm looking for advice on who provides service/parts around Kelowna and any other input any of you may have.
Take care.

Welcome to the group. Sounds like you're quite excited about your new ride.

Depending on how handy with a wrench you are, there is quite a bit you can do in your own driveway. For the engine, find the reputable diesel mechanic in town. These are an older diesel engine (read: no electronics), so somebody who is worth their diesel ticket should be able to work on it. The wiki-pages on this forum are quite informative, you just have to read through them (or pass them along to the mechanic).

Have fun driving around, and don't forget to post a picture or two of you and your new ride. Climbing something rocky, preferably.

That's great to have another Okanagan member on board! What colour combo is your Deli? If you're looking to take your new ride offroad, let us know. We like to explore forestry roads every other weekend or so :M

Welcome to the Cult ...

If you see another Deli, just go put a note under the windshield. IOrganize your own mini meet.

Many people, including as far off as Calgary, trek annually to Richmond for the CVI deli tune, or to glen at CC autos (Coombs, Vancouver Island) definitely worth the trip.

Thanks for the responses, Folks.

Now please forgive my ignorance. Is CVI the name of the business in Richmond that does the tune-up?

By the way, I've got my Deli now. Had it a week and I'm loving it. It's a "sky" blue on white, 1990 Exceed with crystal lite roof. I tried to post a picture but failed. I'll figure that out sometime.

Tomorrow I've got a guy here in Kelowna fabricating a hitch for me. I'll post some feedback on it when I have it. The hitch reciever will mainly be for a bike rack.

Also getting kayak racks and a stereo installed.

HI, To answer your question, yes CVI in Richmond near IKEA is the local place everyone uses, do all deli stuff, specialize in injector pump and glow plugs etc, The Delica TuneUp. Open Monday thru Saturday.

You're welcome to stay over at our place, we're about 1/2 hr drive from CVI. We can set up a Deli Meat so you can meet other owners and deli's.

Another great place is CC Autos at Coombs, on Vancouver Island. But you need to add in your ferry trip (80.00 return).

Cheers, Christine

Hi almac, I got it from a couple in Kamloops that advertised it on this site. About the price, they accepted a little less than the $10,500 they were asking. I suspect there are some available for less with with a few more kms on them. Mine has only 52,000. There were others with ~100,000 km.

About buying one, I recently spoke to a guy in Kelowna ( I think) who was selling his. His # is 250-860-1720. I don't mind putting his # up here because it was on the vehicle, advertising his business. If I remember correctly, his name is Gord, but I'm not sure. Nice guy to talk to, though.

And Christine, thanks for you response and your hospitality. I think I'll go to Coombs. I visit Comox a couple times a year, only ~40 minutes away and right along the way.

Aum, Y'all!
