Re-charge A/C

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Update, to my AC recharge. The leak sealer seams to have done it's job. System is holding pressure the AC blows cold enough that the wife put on a sweater on our short drive in 27deg temps yesterday. Only bad part is now that the compressor is actually doing something, my belts are screaming like banshees! Back to the garage. Road trip to Edmonton and beyond on Sunday.

Just to add my two cents, I picked up the Redtek kit and it sure went in easy enough, but it barely took on anything out of the first can, pressure was already like 32 when I turned the A/C on. Darn another 50 bucks wasted for something I didn't need. Anyway after reading through the above post I discovered that the big fan in front of the rad wasn't turning. So I checked the fuses behind the glove box and it was the third vertical white fuse in the line. Changed that and now I have nice cold A/C for the price of a 15 amp fuse... whats that like .50 instead of $50?

So just a word to the wise for those who find this thread later, check fuses first, much cheaper.

15 amp? I thought it was ten, maybe that is why mine keep blowing lol, can anyone confirm this? I wouldn't want to melt any wires :)

Go ahead with the 15 amp fuse Loki mine had them as well. And its wired with 12 ga. wire so it can take it. Does anybody know
the setting for the high pressure cut out switch? I added a can of gas to mine and its cooling great but compressor cycles on and off
at a stoplight. I think I may have put too much in there. Low side pressure was holding at 34 so I just added until there were
no bubbles in the sight glass.

How many cans did you add? Seems to me my system took 6 cans before it was full but I don't know the specs on the hi pressure switch.
I'm guessing but if it's cycling on/off at idle (stopped) you should be able to do a continuity test across the hi press switch and watch your multi meter jump if it's cycling. Or, even easier, you could jumper out the switch and if it stops cycling you've proven system overpressure. Drain some out and stop playing with it!!! Just kidding :-D :-D

Hey Wayne how was your fishin trip? I put in one 1 kg can of R12 and go a clear sight glass and kick ass delivery temps. But I'm not
sure if it is supposed to cycle like this or not. I don't have a high side gauge and can't remember what the reading should be anyway
(140 psi?). I have heard some cars that would cycle like that before. Oh well not a big problem. The cooler makes ice now so thats good!
Painted the roof white too so I'm ready for the Mojave. I am going to try to make it to CCAuto's hoe down in Aug. will you be there?

It sounds like your AC is under control and you probably have a greater understanding of delica AC than anyone. Thanks for all your info.

Fishing in B.C. fresh water has been generally slow because of the heat but Aug 1st I head to the Kootenay R. and the Elk R. for a week. That should be good fishing but many flies to tie, a fly rod to build and maps to ponder till then. I did some neat Chilcotin 4X4ing in sage brush and cactus country but I'll have to learn to stay off the ATV tracks. Even a good Delica can't compete with an ATV. I also brought home a lot of caked on mud and wow is that hard to remove. :o

I'm excited to hear about CC's event . When is it?? I should be able to visit my bro in Nanaime and do the CC event at the same time. Hate paying ferry fares but this sounds worthwhile. I'll look forward to meeting you there.

Years ago on the Thompson River in 40deg temps I parked my van under a tarp to keep cool (and camp). The barrrier kept a breeze blowing but I do like your idea of a white roof for the Mojave. Good Luck!

Pretty darn sure it was a 15 amp as my wires were all labeled with what kind of fuse to use. Pretty handy really unless they aren't the numbers for the fuses but for something else. Did anyone else notice that with the heat we are having in BC that the A/C just cant keep up? I had it blasting at 2:00 in the afternoon and it still never got very cool inside, but at 8:00 at night, cooled her right down in a few minutes. Wondering if others are the same, or if I have to dig a bit deeper to see if there is anything else not working right.

Mine is being re-charged right now. I will repost and let you know if it performs. I have to go from Richmond to North Van. Should be a good test.

Is it the radiator looking things that is on both sides upfront that bring air in. Or is the one on the drivers side for something else. Neithor one sounds as though they do anything.
Sure could use some a/c.

Check the relay's they are right above the fuses. Look at the photo in the AC head scratcher thread. Good luck.
