Are either of these 2 leaks serious?

Afternoon guys,
I was doing an oil change this afternoon for a long road trip we have on Tuesday morning when I noticed these two leaks.

First one is up near the intake/exhaust manifold. There's a small tube and nut where there was a drip - I've circled the area in yellow (hope you can see it). The picture was taken from underneith and I tried to include the turbo for point of reference. Basically this shot is lying on your back under the driver side tire looking up. The yellow is where there was a drip, but it could possibly be coming from something else in that general area. I also have the typical turbo drip for the past year.




The second one is the rear diff. I turned my head just to look around the underneith and noticed possibly another leak. It looks like when the driveshaft spins the fluid has been sprayed along the fuel tank guard on the right of the picture. I just changed the rear diff fluid, and there's nothing leaking anywhere else on the housing, and it's still full of fluid. Can anyone tell me what needs to be fixed here?

Looks like either your valve cover gasket leaking onto your oil feed line, common, no big deal. Or it could be your oil feed line isn't tight enough, has anyone pulled the turbo off your van recently? Check with a wrench, but don't go crazy on it just make sure it's tight. Again, not a big deal unless it is leaking copious amounts. For your rear diff, that would be your pinion seal, you should replace that, unless of course you like the rust protection that the gear oil provides, lol.

THanks Mephis for the quick response - I'll try tightening that nut a bit, and try to see if it's a valve cover gasket leak.

For the pinion seal - is this something that should be fixed/looked at ASAP? Or is it something that could be put off for a few weeks?

I was trying to imply that it's no big deal with the rust prevention joke, just make sure it's not a severe leak. If you are going on a road trip, look at the back of your van, if you see oil spots all over it's probably leaking alot. If not, just make sure you keep an eye on it, check your fluid periodically untill you have it fixed. You don't want to drive with a dry diff, especially at highway speeds and for prolonged periods.

There's no oil dripping on the ground at the rear, and what's splattered underneith is pretty minimal...I think I should be ok for a bit.

Kinda funny, when I popped the seat up to get at the oil cap, I found a little mouse nest in the battery compartment. Great....I got critters.

Reminds me of one day we were going to put a ballast resistor in my buddy Bongo Bill's camper van (converted 67 bread truck).
We opened the hood to get at it and a chicken flew out between us, scared the crap out of both of us! Stupid bird left a clutch of
eggs on top of the air cleaner so we fixed the truck then went and ate the eggs for breakfast. Have a good trip.
