Room to sleep in Pajero?
Hi. Still haven't bought one yet, but wondering if anybody has slept in a Pajero or set up a bed in back. Does it have room for 2? Is the Delica any better for this?
Is it true the rear seats fold to a level platform that you could lay a bed on? I want to take it camping with my g/f and be able to sleep inside overnight if possible.
If you have pics of your bed or platform (or have a link) i'd appreciate a look!
Thanks,
Mark

if you are over about 4' tall you'll need the Delica to sleep in... (it has room for up to 8')

Re: Room to sleep in Pajero?
Ha ha! I realize that the Delica is superior for room in back, but I've seen lots of references to beds in back of Pajeros. I've only seen one photo of somebody actually setting up the bed, but it wasn't a clear shot, and it was from the rear. I want to see exactly how it was built, and how the rear seats were set up to do it.
Thanks,
Mark

Re: Room to sleep in Pajero?
We owned a Montero (same as Pajero) LWB for 4 years and took it overlanding (sleeping in it).
We owned a Pajero for 2 years LWB and took it last year and the year before every summer camping (sleeping in it)
Double size mattress will fit. A queen will 'almost' fit but you need to take out the mini jump seats (6th/7th passenger) in the rear.
Lengthwise, it's long. 6' tall person can sleep in it head to toe with the seats folded down. Very similar to the Delica's with the bench seats.
You can do it easily. It's fun and especially cool if you have the moonroof.
That is one thing Maryna misses the most about our Paj compared to our Delica. The huge moonroof you can look out of while laying down at night and seeing the stars.
Have fun with it ! They are a blast.

I sleep in my Pajero regularly, and I find it very comfortable at 6'1". I no longer bring a tent or mattresses or anything ....just a sleeping bag and pillow. My girlfriend (5'2") and I have slept together on the stock fold out bed for as much as a week at a time and find that we have more than enough room. You can even adjust the rear seats to create an inclined reading position.

Re: Room to sleep in Pajero?
Even the SWB folds down to make a bed for two, more comfy with a therma rest or more to smooth the bumps, but more than comfy even with nothing. I didn't measure, but my friend is 6'3" and had more than enough room to stretch out fully when he tried it. The only bad part about the SWB is if you are sleeping two, there is barely any room for storage in the vehicle. If you are wondering how it folds, you remove the head rests from all the seats, fold back the rear seats untill flat, then move the front seat all the way forward and recline it all the way, viola insta bed. Gotta love JDMs, so much even in small packages. Pajeros are awesome, I love mine, but, I'm going to sell it for a five speed with a 2.8.

Re: Room to sleep in Pajero?
Lots of room to sleep. I am a big guy, and my wife is average sized and we had a good (not lots) amount of room. We layed down the rear seats, stored stuff in the front seat area. on top of the "bed" we put down an air matress (double), and it was very comfortable and cozy. Nice to lay in bed an look up at the stars through the sunroof. Although my wife noticed it was much easier to be "dutch ovened" will all the windows rolled up and doors closed.

on the delica it's a little lever on the side of the seat back.

Really? I ran out in the rain this morning to try this, and yes it sort of lays out, but could you really sleep like that? I couldn't get it to anywhere near flat enough. I think I'd have to be pretty sh** faced to be able to fall asleep in that position!
When you say fold the rear seats back so they're flat, Im assuming you mean fold them forward flat? Or do they somehow recline to be flat?

Re: Room to sleep in Pajero?
There is a little lever hidden down the on the lower outside of each rear seat, that reclines the seats, they go completely flat so you have a nice cushioned area in the back. Have your legs on the front seat and then the only crappy thing is you have the center console area between the front seats which is only really a problem if your playin some Barry White in there, lol, and then it's really only an inconvenience. I had the truck for a year before I found those levers, makes sitting in the back more comfy as well since you no longer have to sit straight up and down.
