I researched a few online sites and the S.W. BC backroads mapbook, and decided a good short trip would be to the clear creek hotsprings accessible via the harrison east forestry road and a side road off of that. The east FSR was pretty good, bascially a winding gravel road with mountain on one side and lake on the other (sometimes 600 metres below). The views were stunning, I didn't know you could get bc interior-like geography only 2 hours from Vancouver.
The side road to the clear creek hotsprings was okay, it had all these drainage trenches that were like 2 feet deep and required a 1st gear crawl, and they were every 2 minutes at least, so it was really slow.
Off the main east road I found an awesome big beach (near the tire repair/recycling guy) and drove around on the beach and in the lake a bit

I would not go back to the springs personally as the 12km road took almost 2 hours with all the trenches and the tubs of warm water were not worth that. I didn't go very far to see if the clear creek FSR ends in a river like I've heard and doesn't connect to the next road anymore, but the forestry signs still say it is infact still washed out and a dead end.
Topped up on diesel 40L tank + 10L can in harrison and still had 3/4 tank when we got out.
I drove for 14 hours in total, 10 hours of that was off-pavement. Good times.
and here are the photos from the trip!

If anyone wants more detail on how to get in there let me know.
Anyone wanting to do delica trips to harrison or wherever let me know and I'll definitely come along if I'm free. A day/weekend trip of the whistler/pemberton/harrison/vancouver loop would be good times, probably more fun with an overnight camp somewhere. I'm realizing why this area & route is so popular :)
