blower motor

the only repair for blower motor i have seen so far on the forum is to give it a good whack if it doesnt work.
i got a blower that doesnt work. theres power to the switch. i got the glovebox and other dash parts off. its not clear to me precisely where the motor is, or where the power to the motor is so i can test it.

is the motor part of the 20a heater circuit or the 15a defogger?

The Delica Wiki drawings show that the motor is fed from the 20 A fuse in position 16 identified as the heater. The remainder of the drawing only shows dropping resistors for the different speeds. The drawings are hard to read as it is easy to go X-eyed following the wires even though I have got them plotted full size. I have my dash apart @ present and I see the banks of fuses near the motor. I can't find them on the drawings yet. Maybe our vans are different.

before you put it all together could you please photograph it?
i saw 3 inline fuses, they were all good. theres power at the 20a fuse too.
the switch receives power, but jumping the switch terminals wont power the fan.
im not exactly sure where the fan is for that matter!!
a photo or 2 would help a lot. im sure our vans cant be that different.

I took 2 pictures, 1 of the main fuse block where the 20A fuse is ( yellow ) on bottom right and another of the fan area. The 20A fuse is the fan for sure as when I pulled it the fan stopped. The other picture got me more confused after I looked @ the drawing as the drawing shows 3 resistors, which I thought were the black rectangles with 250 on them. I'm not sure any more. Have you taken the 5 white things apart which appear to be in-line fuse holders. They may not be fuses.

I also listened for the motor location but I couldn't really tell where it is. The wires going to it should be blue with a red tracer and possibly black. I'll do some more checking on mine this morning .

I was going to say the same thing Josh! The whack method has always worked for me. Actually I only had problems for a short period of time a couple of Winters ago. During that time I would give is a good whack it would start. All last Winter I had no problems. I am guessing that I loosened up what ever was binding.

I hit it on the right side usually. It didn't seem to important exactly where I hit it. I also didn't use a hammer, usually just my finger tips did the trick.

thanks for the photos.. they are fuses, yes, and theyre good. although mine only has 3 fuses there, not 6 like yours lrp374 (your black one is a fuse too i presume)

A quick stop at Glens in Coombs, on your next Island trip, would sort out both blower location and replacement cost>

so the problem was, i didnt have the right tool! i went to canadian tire in powell river and asked mutt and jeff (you may remember them from http://www.delica.ca/forum/canada-tire- ... -2789.html ) for the DELICA WHACK MASTER. they had one for the L300 and one for the L400.

actually, thats not true.
but i did figure out exactly where the blower motor was and gave it a good whack, and guess what? it freakin works! not that great, but i guess itll do for now.

so HERE is the blower! look behind the curved plastic that is on the floor in the middle (the one with the 3 metal clips), and look UP a little and you will see a motor!



i thought the curved plastic housed the motor, i discovered the heating core is in there....

well anyway, if somebody searches blower motor, at least now theyll get a photo of it

I'm having trouble getting my blower motor started aswell. The fuse is ok, but if i remove it the car starts making a whining sound (as if theres a seat-belt warning sound or similar).. Is that normal? I've tried whacking it but no luck getting it started yet.

EDIT: Measured voltage at the blower motor wires, so theres power on it. Can't get it moving by hitting it so I'm going to try to remove it.
