L400 Owner's Manual

Post by DeliTan »

Anybody have one? In english?

I have downloaded this one: Mitsubishi_Delica_UserManual_Spacegear_1997_E12
but I still have too many questions to pester the UK or Aus sites

If I don't hear anything in the next couple of days, I guess I will have to order one.

($38; :o shudder!)

Hi John DeliTan, it was great to meet you, am amazed at your wealth of knowledge on your L400.

Anybody got the L400 Manual in English, we could borrow it and scan it onto the computer for all to share.

Would be nice for the us all to know a bit more, most of us don't know enuf to help an L400 while out on our group treks. I heard that the tranmission is perhaps similar to the Pajero??

Cheers, CHristine.

The L400 shares a lot more with the Pajero than the L300 does, apparently the whole drivetrain is the same, so more of it would be found there.

beyond that, I think someone may need to break down and buy a manual from the UK...

I did see some digital versions posted on eBay, but I'm unsure what it actually contains and if it covers series 1 L400s. I'm not sure how much difference mechanically there is between the series 1 & 2 L400s.

Hi All;

And especially you Christine. The meet was fun and I hope to make the next one.

I know close to nutin on my 400 but I'm not afraid to "dive in".

We won't have to worry about the Series 2 for a couple more years.

I think I have downloaded all the tech stuff on tearing an L400 apart, but I am still curious about usage of some controls and idiot lites. Hence my desire for the Owner's Manual. I will order the manual, but there's a caveat. If there is a hint of legitimate copyright, I would have a problem legally and, more importantly, morally, of distributing it widely. I wouldn't, however, hesitate quoting bits when called on.

Don't know if I'm too late or not, but I have the english reprinted manual for the l400, (got it from the U.K.) Also have the complete shop manual for both l300 and l400 on disk. Le me know if I can do anything for you.

Hi There;

Don't know why I didn't see your post earlier (?) I do have a few questions. I tried ordering the manual from the UK but apparently I must do battle with PayPal first (buggers; leave my bank account alone...)

I have the electronic heating/AC controls. When I hit "Auto" it goes into AC mode no matter how cold it is. No problem to change it after, but is the default changeable?

The Compass/Temp gauge in the pod has a temp but what is it supposed to read? Inside? Outside? Both somehow? The "S" button seems to only reset the compass(?)

What is the button between the "Rear Control" and the AC button for? It can't be a third defroster(?) Is it for injecting blue sky directly into your head?

Which of the defroster buttons is for the front? And back?

Thanx a lot

john

That is, quite obviously, how you enter the blue zone... :?

Okay, I don't really know, but maybe dash vents - the arrow looks like it's pointing to the figure's head.

No. Auto it will go into A/C mode (defrost/cool). It's like that one most new vehicles.

Outside temp. (when the thermometer is outside of the vehicle (in the pic) then it's outside temp. When it's on the inside of the vehicle, then it's inside temp.)

This is the cool air switch. When on it directs cool air to the upper body area from the centre vents. (press for on / press for off).

Air controls (middle console) the defrost is for the rear. Defrost beside the ECS button is for the windshield + windshield wipers (if you have them).

Thanx jfarsang;

Please forgive my ignorance. This is the most modern four tire vehicle I've owned.

Outside temp. (when the thermometer is outside of the vehicle (in the pic) then it's outside temp. When it's on the inside of the vehicle, then it's inside temp.)

How do I switch it to read inside temp?

You can't.

On Pajero's there is a little button beside the 'S' that indicates temp. Switch from inside to outside.

I guess there really isn't a need for inside temp as the digital climate control will be quite accurate once you set it.

Looks like most the questions have been answered. The a/c coming on automaticaly is a good thing, it gives a drier air for heating and defrosting, and it prevents your a/c seals from drying out over the winter. the "blue head" button, allows you to keep your current heat settings, but blows cooler air at your face.(supposed to reduce drivers fatigue) The defroster switch on the temp. pod is for the front windshield(directs all air flow to windshield & puts fan to max) The defroster switch in line with the ECS and hazard switch is for the rear window. The switch for the electric ellement under your front wipers(if you have this option) is a rocker switch beside your automatic transmission mode switch. It has a picture of one wiper on a square window, and a small yellow light. This is to melt and prevent ice build up on your front wipers. Temperature reading is not selectable. The "S" button resets your compass and you are suposed to drive in a complete circle after pushing this button.

Electronically Controlled Suspension.
pressing that button adjusts the firmness of the suspension (assuming you still have the factory shocks) each press toggles between "sport" (firmer) and "touring" (softer) mode (should be a light on the dash for "sport" mode))
