I noticed last night that the rear of the van has Delica written on the back, however only one side is lit up so it looks like I drive a Deli. I read in another part of this forum of someone putting a new bulb in with some soldering etc. My question is does anyone know how to take off the back strip to access the lights, assuming all I have to do is change a light bulb. Thanks again in advance

Re: Red Delica strip on the back door
I have never had to do it myself, however I gather you access it from the inside, you remove the door card on the inside of the tailgate and you should be able to see the bulbs. That said, I also seem to remember that the bulbs are some odd-ball thing that isn't so easy to replace, hence the bit about soldering, gluing, or otherwise jerry-rigging.

Re: Red Delica strip on the back door
my strip fell off recently and i got it back on a couple of days ago.
yes, if you remove the interior upholstered panel, and cut the plastic inside, you will see the lights. i didnt have to change the bulbs, so i didnt see how to do that, if its easy or requires soldering as green1 says
the whole strip is held on by those plastic tabs that hold on the interior panels, and a couple of push on nuts.
might be more work then its worth, unless youre stoked on the bling effect

So a little searching in the Download section of this website and voila I found a very good step by step with pictures procedure on how to change the light bulb in the back. This is such a great website, thanks to everyone who posts.

Can you post the link just incase anyone else is looking for it? That way it will make it easier to find it in the future.Mbryant wrote:So a little searching in the Download section of this website and voila I found a very good step by step with pictures procedure on how to change the light bulb in the back. P.S. Where are you in Ontario? My wife and I just moved back to London, ON from North Vancouver, BC.
We should look into an Ontario meet...maybe in the spring...perhaps a camping outing
Looks like we have similar rides too.

Re: Red Delica strip on the back door
I just did the tailgate light fix on my bus this past week, and offer the following words of advice;
#1 Don't do it in the dark using only a trouble light! (The tiny little screw that holds the light socket clip in, disappears when dropped into gravel and leaves)
#2 Buy extra trim clips to put the panel back on, and $6 for the panel clip remover tool is not a waste of money, it works great, and doesn't split the particle board panel like a screwdriver and brute force will.
#3 Don't try and overbend the wire leads on the little halogen bulb. That little click sound you will hear is the bulb barely cracking at the base and allowing you only 32 seconds of quickly fading light as your little $12 bulb burns out!
#4 Final overall effect, underwhelming.

Here is the link, thanks for the reminder I forgot to add it. http://www.delica.ca/forum/fixing-the-d ... -2143.html
I live in Bracebridge (in the Muskoka's) and our rides look very similar I drive a 93 Exceed with the crystal lite sunroof.
Connecting would be great and camping would be great as well.

We are originally from Sarnia and moved to N.Van for fun for 3 years. The wife is taking the teachers program at Western (only one year!) As soon as that's over we will be out of Ontario...the worst province in Canada. haha. Can't guarantee we will be back to BC, but we won't stay in ON that's for sure!
