Need 2 good shaped tires

Post by Dewy »

Hi...

I need two front tires for my van as the wheel alignment was off on my trip back from Mexico and treads are worn unevenly.
The tires that are on there now are BF Goodrich Radial Winter Trail T/A 30X9.50 R15LT.

Let me know if you have anything compatible that you are willing to part with. Or if you know a good place to pick up some new ones at a reasonable price. With that said what is the going price for a good tire.

Thank you
neil

correction: you need FOUR tires, never replace just 2 on a 4x4 vehicle.

how badly are they worn? could you just swap sides (same orientation so the direction of travel remains the same but the warn part swaps from in to out or out to in as i maybe) and wear it back to normal? not being a mechanic I'm not sure if that is a bad idea or not, but if the wear isn't huge it might be an option.

Changing the tires doesn't fix your initial problem: did you get a wheel alignment first?

And you should be good with only two. It IS preferable to change all four at the same time for a 4WD vehicle, but if you've still got plenty of tread on the rears and you're looking for used for the front, it shouldn't be a big deal. A bigger issue would be getting four different tires with different tread patterns because THAT would be an issue for the drivetrain.

I am in the same boat !!
My alignment is off and now my rear tires are brand new still and the fronts are almost bald on the outside. Sad thing is that i had the alignment done !!

how often do you guys rotate your tires?
I use all 5 in rotation and do it every 10,000 k - no ugly wear.

i am aware that i should replace the all 4 tires and the back ones do have some good tread still on them, as well I rarely go into the 4x4 mode. However, TAIT has some 4 brand new bad boys for sale at a sweet price and he is coming to Van tomorrow, now I just need to get them to Salt spring. Anyone coming this way in the next week or so?

The front left tire on the inside is pretty bad and the other one blew a couple weeks ago. :o so rotating them is probably not an option at this point.

- good one :-D :-D

I talked to Glenn at CC autos and he said the alignment adjustments on Delis is tricky and the guys there have to sometimes take them off the hoist a few times before they get it right. So once i get new treads on then i will take Dewy up to see the boys in Coombs. And i hope it is just the wheel alignment and not ball joints. :?

fishslapper - If you would like my 2 back tires there are yours for the having.

Wow! The speed of the internet and this community. :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

I have 4 new tires waiting for me at CVI come Monday morning. Anyone coming to Victoria or better Salt Spring next week and can pick up these tires. Will share the ferry cost.

Thank you

I'm under the impression that they don't have to be DOT if they have the load rating (and that it is the right rating :))
