Here is the scenario, I turn on my vehicle, the parking lights come on which is normal. Next I rotate my turn signal light switch to turn on my headlights, which also enables my foglights to turn on - my headlights come on but my dash lights stay out until I move the signal arm around.
Has anyone had a similar issue and am I in for trouble in the near future? My Deli started doing this last week and never did it before.
Thanks

Re: Light switch query
Multi switch is dying...either replace or pull apart and clean. I beleive someone on the forum was repairing them for a nominal fee. I had gotten one from CCAUTOS when mine went south.

Re: Light switch query
my dash lights often had a noticible delay before they came on, especially in colder weather, never did track it down though... possibly the combination switch is dying or dirty.

Re: Light switch query
Have the exact same problem myself - especially when cold. Like today when leaving work. Delay is about 10 minutes or so, until my interior temp warms up, then the speedo cluster light comes on. All my other lights work no problem, just my speedo/tach cluster lights.
What's and where's a multi switch located? Right in the stem of the turning indicator?

Thanks green - what's the trick to getting inside that thing - I think I remember reading they can break and are a pain to source?

Re: Light switch query
Not trying to hijack the thread but, there isn't a switch up front to turn on the rear interior lights is there?
Also, is the stick shift (auto) supposed to loight up, or is it just on the dash?

Re: Light switch query
Nope, but I've often considered wiring such a thing.... should be easy enough, just run a wire from the light pod to simulate the "on" position on the switch...flyfishn wrote:Not trying to hijack the thread but, there isn't a switch up front to turn on the rear interior lights is there?
nope, just on the dash, there are no lights on the centre console. Also, is the stick shift (auto) supposed to loight up, or is it just on the dash?

Re: Light switch query
Just an update,
With this cold weather, if that has an effect like suggested, I have been having renewed issues but wiggling the turn signal or turning the lights on and off was having no effect. Note that when my dash lights are off the driving lights were also off. After a while I discovered that very slightly twisting the light control that all the lights would come on. Are their usually one or two switches involved? I was thinking of maybe replacing the whole unit... any suggestions?
cheers

Re: Light switch query
It still sounds like the multi-switch in the steering column is on its way out - it's dying, it's about to be an ex-multi-switch, expired.
The usual culprit is excessive amperage running through the headlight circuit, which leads to heat, which leads to melting, which leads to lack of circuit continuity.
I would suggest changing the multi-switch and then installing the extra headlight relays as detailed in dinoevo's thread.
