Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Idiot lights

Post by mugs »

Alright,
Call me an idiot but I'm having trouble translating the 'idot' dash lights. The manual only tells me so much.

What do you make of three lights on at the same time?
They are the battery, fuel filter, and A/T temp lights.

Recently they have been coming on at startup occasionally, then going out once I get going.
Then, also seemingly at random, all three will blink during driving. I thought it could be an overheat, but they go off just as quick as they came on, without cooling down necessarilly.

Perhaps an electrical issue I've told myself.

Any advice?

Thanks

Hey Mugs, all lights on/off or especially if they kinda fade on/off while driving means your alternator is on it's way out. Probably a good time to get it tested and/or rebuilt. There's lots of posts on the site about alternator replacing/rebuilding. It's something you can pretty easily do yourself but it is a pain to get to.

Thanks for your input.

I'm not having any other signs of it being the alternator. In my experience (albeit little), alternators don't fade - rather they die.

Is there anything particular about delicas for this discussion?

Hey Mugs,
The lights are classic symptom of failing alternator, there are many posts here exactly like yours, but you're right it could also be as simple as a loose alternator belt from the adjustment bolt being slightly loose and the alternator moving. boils down to your system not charging properly which can mean alternator, battery, voltage regulator, or sometimes, as simple as poor battery connections (not tight, not clean, etc.)

Check out some of the past posts, there's lots of details/solutions to be found - Eg. http://www.delica.ca/forum/electrical-p ... tml#p35351

Cheers

As the general consensus appears to be that I do not know what I'm talking about, and cause more harm than good, I am removing this post so that others are not tricked in to following my ill-advised instructions.
