Universal Joint source

Post by Adrock »

The universal closest to my rear diff is on its last legs. I need it replaced ASAP. Will that part from a montero do the trick? I am in kimberley, and it doesn't feel very nice to drive right now. I will be replacing it tomorrow, just curious what suggestions would be for getting the part that fits. If anyone knows for sure a montero part would work perfectly please let me know as I think that is my best bet, or if you have any other ideas that would be swell...

thanks guys.

while I dont know if the Montero one will work for you, if you just take your u-joint in to any lordco or trans shop they will simply match it to one for you. this works best if you have another vehicle to drive while your u-joint is out lol

this is a constant problem in a one vehicle household... it is incredibly difficult to do any parts shopping when I must drive my vehicle to the parts place, but then need the part buried deep inside the vehicle to compare to....

You guys fairly certain it will be an easy find? Don't want to have it out and not be able to drive at all, although I don't want to drive it much anyways so I guess I'll just do that.

If your worried about it, phone who you have in town for parts and ask about different size u-joints, I had one that was never produced for any vehicle, it was a combination joint, one size on the diff and different size on the drive shaft, since I had to source a different shaft. and to my surprise they had so many different combinations it was crazy. really any trans shop or lordco should be able to help you, but you will have to have it for them to measure it, and dont cheap out, get the good one or you will be replacing it again befor you need to.

lordco in kimberley had it in stock. If this one does, every one does as far as i'm concerned. code was 399 on the box. Man I feel so much better now that thats done. it drives a million times better and I cant abuse it real nice now.
