Interminttent white smoke
I have a 94 paj and have had CVI do a Pajero tune which made it run better but I\m still getting large clouds of white smoke sometimes it does it when its cold and when its warm, when it does it looks like the cars behind me are in a thick fog. The coolent level does not seem to do down and it does not use any oil.
Any ideas??? oh yeah the injector pump was rebuilt just before i bought it
Thanks
Joe

You say that the injection pump was rebuilt before you got it,do you know where and when? When you say Pajero tune what does that involve on a 2.8?
Just want to get a feel for whats been done to the vehicle before trying to help figure out whats going on.

I bought It from japanoid and they did the work, and the CVI Pajero Tune is the ultrasonic cleaning of the injectors and adjusting the fuel pressure and general check up i guess. And I have put in a egr blocking plate in aswell

Re: Interminttent white smoke
Its hard to diagnose things over the internet and with the smoke only happening every now and again it makes things even harder but white smoke is usually coolant being burnt through the engine but you say its not useing any coolant so that could rule that out.I think that you need to get the vehicle check out by a specialist to determine what the cause is.If the smoke was there all the time then it would be alot easyier.
It could be so many things that are causeing the smoke.
I would sugest before you get it checked out i would try and record the conditions that it happens (throttle position, engine temp,on the flat or going up or down hills, length of time driveing, street stop and start or highway cruiseing and weather conditions).
With things like this though you can always bet that it will not do it on the day you get it checked out so the more infomation you can get about the symptoms the better.
Sorry i can not be of more help but as i said before its hard via the internet to fix these things.

Re: Interminttent white smoke
Hi,
try this pls. yours is intercooler turbo. try to cover the intercooler turbo radiator with the cardboard & see what happen.
the air going to the engine from intercooler radiator is very cold. so the result will be cold air going to the engine.
then it will be unburn cold fuel coming to the engine which you will have a white smoke coming out from your tailpipe.you are in higher elevation too.just need fine twicking to your engine.
it did happen to some of my client & it works. this only happen when the weather is very cold.
you need to warn up the system. try this maybe it works
hope this help:

Re: Interminttent white smoke
here's a thought, the intercooler has a fan on it to draw air in, would it maybe make sense to disable this in the winter? (or is it already on a temperature sensor?)MardyDelica wrote:try this pls. yours is intercooler turbo. try to cover the intercooler turbo radiator with the cardboard & see what happen.

hi, roger,
yes you can do disable it. not working on cold weather see what happen.

let me know how it works.
