Need an alignment ? Best guys in the biz - Dale's Alignment

Are you interested in convincing them to adjust T bars on all our Deli's?? We need both services available to all of us.

What specs do you need to do your torsion bars? I did my own. As a matter of fact I re-indexed them. The only specs I can think of would be found on a tape measure.

Tape measure is what's needed.

When you call them for an appointment, just ask to speak with Mike and ask him if he has time to level out the front end via torsion bars before doing the alignment and how much extra it will cost.

I talked to Daryl at Dale's Alignment 11:30 Friday Dec 18th 2009. Mike is off today. He said "we don't have a deep socket." He had no idea how you had your T bars raised there. Daryl talked to another mechanic and verified no T bars raised.

He referred me to Parkside Auto 604 309 7718. Calls goes to an answering machine and he returns your calls.

I'll do it myself as soon as I can locate or make a deep socket. The wiki has instructions on the socket.

This is too much of a bother to pursue any further. You are fortunate to have Dale's raise your t bars. I'm not. Good luck to anyone else. I won't deal with Dale's if they won't do the whole job.

I don't think a deep socket is the answer, a ratcheting wrench is pretty easy.

I got a set from Cdn Tire, pretty sure it's the 17mm . The type I got have a switch on them rather than the kind you flip over. I did this out of fear that I would loosen something off only to find that I couldn't get the ratchet wrench off and could not back up. I like the idea of having a "reverse gear" on my ratchet wrench.

Of course it's too much of a bother. The reason is because a deep socket is NOT the answer. It will not work.

It's a 17mm or 11/16 ratchet wrench.

I'm certain I posted this a few times and linked to other posts as well regarding t-bar adjustments.

I went to Chen Auto Clinic on Pemberton Avenue in North Van to get my wheels aligned. I'm very satisfied. I think it was $80.00 or there about. That was last year and I have not had any issues since.

I don't remember for sure which shop it was, however I thought it was Dale's Alignment that did the alignment on my Delica this summer when I was in the lower mainland. At the time they refused to crank the torsion bars for me saying they didn't have the right tool to do it? (Erebus could probably give you more information here, as it was he who took my delica in, and not myself as I was busy hiking the juan-de-fuca trail at the time)

It was indeed Dale's. While Green1 was walking the walk, I was talking the talk. And yes, Dale did not do the indexing because "we don't have the special tool". But they were very nice in that they did the alignment anyway and didn't charge for it. Now that's customer service.

The 17mm deep socket isn't just a deep socket; it is a deep socket cut in half with an extension welded in. Mystery Machine (I think) posted the instructions years ago. Although I would think a racheting box wrench would work too. Just harder to put a breaker bar on.

The 17mm is big enough to have some leverage. You can always hit it with a mallet, however, if you have the wheels off the ground then it will be a lot easier to crank them. The hoist rules. As far as the breaker bar is concerned ~ if really needed ~ I would just use a bigger breaker bar, i.e.; a pipe.

Yup, I carry a 2 foot long steel pipe that fits nicely over the handle of my socket ratchet.

Not so sure anymore about "best guys in the biz" after they try to do the alignment on our l300. Apparently they couldn't adjust the lower control arm and suggested to replace all bushings and bolts (big job). I was a little surprised they charged full price ($100) even if they did not do the alignment.
Anyway. As I drooped the Delica off at Muffler Tech to get the new side exhaust, I found out they also offering alignment. After we talked about the problem of the lower control arm they offered to have a look and see if they can do the 4-wheel laser alignment (same equipment as Dale's). They fixed the camber bolts and did the alignment (specs are in their system). Everything is now straight and Muffler Tech saved me a lot of work and hassle.

I`ve always gone to Richmond Frame. They do alignments for quite a few major dealerships. Also have done all my alignment specs for my race car. Hark did an awesome job on the delica (has all the specs in his alignment machine) that and he did a bunch of other little stuff for free. Just thought I should mention them for the people that don`t want to drive out to Langley
