When I make right hand turns or go straight over bumps at speeds less than 30kph, the front right suspension is very audible.
It is not like a clunk, but almost like compressing a rusty spring in a rusty tube, this is why I assume it to be the shock. It appears to have
become worse since my long drive up to the interior during Xmas. Mardy recently replaced all of the bushings with poly's. Any ideas of what I could
inspect myself would be appreciated. If it is a rusty spring in the shock, would teflon grease help?
Thanks,
Joe

Re: blown shock?
Like I said in your other post, give your undercarriage a really good cleaning. I really doubt a blown shock would make that noise. I think a blown shock would result in your going over a bump and the van keeps on bouncing up and down. All the shock does is control the reaction of your suspension.

The previous posts are all valid, to be sure. One thing that I did not see is cleaning your undercarriage.
Now we all ought to know that hygiene is a basic must. This past Sunday I did a little detailing maintenance where I removed the bambie bars; the foot bars; breast plate & gopher grille. You wouldn't believe what I found up in there. I found a lot of Squamish Valley FSR; some Weaver Creek FSR; some Grizzly FSR (Nahatlatch area); even a little bit of Gold Bridge... and a whole lot of TC1 sludge from the last few months, which is the main reason why I did this in the first place. To get the foot bars off I had to remove a couple of flaps (three 12mm bolts, each) in the front wheel wells. Well, was I surprised to find all these hidden treasures just sitting there on the frame! With all the bars, plates & flaps off ~ I took a hose with a garden variety nozzle and squirted away. Much quieter now, however I see that I have some rust to wire brush off where the paint got ripped away and repaint with "Zero Rust", which you can pick up at White & Peters, on Pemberton Avenue, North Van.

Re: blown shock?
Thanks Falco,
Dirt on the under carriage is most definitely not a concern, as I use a low pressure wash year round for the cleaning of my Deli.
I am always concerned about road salt, so I am more diligent than most when it comes to cleaning it.

Re: blown shock?
I remember talk of a frame bolt that has come loose for others in the past on this site which creates a similar sound - try searching for frame bolt or something along those lines.
Basically just need to tighten up these bolts with a long breaker bar....
- EDIT -
Found it, might be what you need?

Re: blown shock?
Cool, I'm glad to hear that Joe. The reason that I brought it up is because I clean a lot too. I had squeaking/crunching sounds coming from under the front of the MLB, just like you described. I crawled under to look at my bushings and they looked generally good, a bit on the tight side but okay. It was when I took the bambie & foot bars off to get a protective coat of wax on those hard to get at places that I noticed all sorts of crude on the frame (looking from in the forward wheel wells, behind the flaps in the front part of the wheel well) and having cleaned that out she doesn't squeak any more.joedelica wrote:Thanks Falco,

Another place your noise might be coming from is in the steering gear, located in the scoop assembly between your front wheels, however that usually comes with other sounds.
Although I wouldn't rule out the frame bolts, when I had these issues I went to CVI and we went to tightened all the frame bolts but they were already tight.

Re: blown shock?
Problem appears to be resolved; checked the bushings around the front right side and the bushing near the ball joint is a little tired. Mardy will be replacing next week.
