stock intercooler
Just wondering if any one knows what models came with stock intercoolers? My new Deli is a 94 L300 model # yp35whsrpt2.I cant seem to find any info on paticulars on this model.....
I didnt think the L300 came with stock intercoolers but when I was looking underneath the other day I counted 5 exchangers?
1) Main eng Rad
2) Transmission cooler
3) AC condensor
4) Eng oil cooler ?
5)? Very front of Deli ?

Re: stock intercooler
there are 2 ac condensers if you have rear ac. the one in front of the rad is for the main ac thoughdennis_lambert wrote:Just wondering if any one knows what models came with stock intercoolers? Re: stock intercooler
Is there an aftermarket intercooler available?
I'm a Landcruiser guy, but if we have one more kid I'll be getting a Delica. Not quite the power though, (160hp vs 87hp) and I would like to pull my small trailer. I pulled it at 95 kmph with my Hilux (pickup, 2.8l natural) around 90hp, but it was working awful hard up any hill or in a wind. I figure I need about 105 to 110hp to pull it safley. Does anyone know how possible this is?
I've been following as much as I can on this forum, but there is not really the same amount of mods available for Delicas as there are for Toyotas of all kinds. Of course I may just not know where to find them yet.
After all, I would just hate to have to buy a minnivan. ukk. It would break my heart.
Maybe I should just look at a gasser?

K,
Yes there are aftermarket intercoolers available.........usually in the wrecking yard. It will be up to you to figure out the mod for it. GaryO did a good post on his.
As far as towing......ask Konadog, Mararmeisto (JPaul) , and Sebastian ( forgot his handle but he tows a loaded down Boler)
As far as getting 105-110 ponys out of a 2.5 , of course you can. The answer lies in the depth of your overdraft.
My advise is to get snipped and then buy a Delica with the money you'll save

Oya, you didnt say if it was an L300 or L400 you were after
Cheers

Re: stock intercooler
An L400 has a 2.8L engine with 127 horsepower... it may not be what he originally considered, but it's easier than trying to get 120 horsepower out of an L300 (if he really needs 120 horsepower)Golf Cart wrote: As far as getting 105-110 ponys out of a 2.5 , of course you can. Re: stock intercooler
Ha,
Thats fuunny golf cart in respect to I used to drive a toyota and got "Snipped" then got a reversal a $8000.00 elective surgery to have another kid then bought a delica for the growing familly! Now the only way I can afford mods is overdraft....
I also would also like to increase power in my L300 for towing a tent trailer. The first Mod I did was an EGT gauge, second I ordered on Overdraft a extremely expensive K and N filter(Expecting it next week)
Next I plan on increasing the exhaust size to 2.5....
K factor I would buy a Delica for your growing familly those were my thoughts exactly.."No way I am driving a mini van"My familly loves the Deli.
Cheers.

No offense taken, implied or otherwise. I forgot you are a recent convert to the "Big Brother" as I always ( well use to always) associate your white 300 with your handle.Green1 wrote:wasn't meaning anything against you, just posting another option for the original poster to think about is all.

Re: stock intercooler
Thanks for the info Guys, I am still trying to learn how to navigate this site and have not been able to find GaryO's thread. I think it is somewhere in l300 tech, but still looking.
I think the 300 appeals to me a bit more, even though the updated mill in the 400 would be nice. I was thinking of doing the junk yard thing as well. I have done a few engine transplants, most cool was a Toyota supra engine into a 4cyl 89 toyota pickup so I think I am up for the challeng of an intercooler on one of these. looks like there may be some tight spots, but it also looks like there is a very long fan shroud going to the rad (i.e. room to move things). I am very interested to see one of these (I have seen one, I mean DRIVE) and see how much work a few of these mods are.
I will contiue to surf around and build a bit of a file that will help me get to the Ocean on a holiday with my familly some year in the future.

Try this link. I just went to GaryO in the drivers list and searched his posts. Took less than 3 minutes.

- The big rad in front of the engine is the main engine rad, which everyone seems to agree on.
- The radiator protected by the front left foot bars is the main A/C condenser.
- The one protected by the front right foot bars is for the automatic transmission.
- The one up in behind the bambie bars (under the shroud) is for the 710 solution.
- I believe the little condenser mounted on the main rad is for the cabin A/C.
