Egr Blanking Plate , PCV vent catch can all in one.

I'm into my post surgical recovery and very very boored, I havent built anything in a while so thought I would try today and see what I could manage, I previously built an Oil catch can to catch the drippings from the valve cover vent that normally gets sucked out and the Turbo on Both L300 and L400, I don't like this for many reasons, My turbo is oil lubricated and water cooled, so why pump a bunch of nasty oil inside, I pulled off the intake from the air box to the turbo to see just how filthy it was and its pretty bad!!!! so, I mounted my previous made catch can and thought, HMMMM this could be BETTER, what if it did Two jobs. so here first is the picture of my Catch can with K&N air filter/breather, the oily air comes out my valve cover, and right into the can with a vent on top to let it breath.


I mounted this to the EGR blocking plate and caped the end that was an inlet to the air filter tube.
Then I thought what about making a 2fer double duty job out of it, so I made the following , why not make the mounting plate for the Catch can into the Egr blocking plate, so thats what I did, took a cut off some 1/4x6x20 cut it down and made the egr plate cover, and also made it into the bracket for a catch can, I put two pieces of 3/4 round tube onto the top, so one can be an inlet, and the other can either be a mount for a breather filter, OR it can continue to be sucked out from the turbo suction as it was designed from the factory but the catch can will keep the drippings , I think it should take over 5 years or more to get an amount of oil in the can to warrent taking it off to drain, after all its vapor. but I still dont like my turbo to be covered in oily crud, the intake manifold gets it also from the turbo end and its pretty filthy oily, it should dry up in a few weeks .


I was thinking about making a few up as combo units with the exhaust egr cover also, what do you think?

my '87 nissan diesel had an oil catcher that collected the oil from the blow by vapor and directed it into the valve cover.

I thought today about another little thing ive been wanting to do, I put a back up light on the van replacing the under powered under-welming light that was mounted under the back of the van, and not wanting to throw out the old light, I thought I still have a big dead space in behind the catch can. so why not use a scrap light, and a piece of scrap material, and Poof the idea had a home.
I am going to mount one on the other side also, but its sure a nice Bright difference for either checking the oil, if a belt ever blew, hose anything, being in the dark or in the middle of a highway, wire them up to a dash toggle switch OR power it to the battery and signal from the door light switch to a relay , Im not sure how i want it/them wired, but its something Ive wanted to do for a while.
