This, Just In....

Post by FalcoColumbarius »

It was an average North Vancouver Wednesday morning, under a calico sky. I had made the decision to go have breakfast at one of my Favourite all time diners, the Corner Cafe (on Pemberton Ave.). As I made my way onto Marine Drive, I was greeted by a few hundred spectators lining the road, all cheering as I turned onto Marine. I thought this was good. Finally the Delica is receiving her due recognition. As I drove on with all these cheering people lining the road I engaged the left turn signal as I made my final approach in the left turn lane when all of a sudden this COP is standing there right in front of me with his hand up and facing me, so I stop. It gets weirder. This older woman in a white suit is running up the middle of Marine Drive holding a burning stick in her hand. I presume she was trying to blow the fire out by running fast.

Interesting.

Of course, you exited the vehicle before operating that handheld device, correct? Or at least the vehicle was at the side of the road, in Park, right?

Nobody told her to stop drop and roll? Dangerous running about with a torch thing like that in your hand! Never mind the damage it could cause to anything it sets alight!

I think I prefer how it was done back in the day. Say, I remember Montreal, 1976. Needed a flame? Some official guy lit it with his cigarette lighter! Easy enough!

Hey, everyone else was in the road so I parked in the middle of the road. Besides, I was under police supervision.
