Awesome, what kind of seals do you plan on using around the slide out? One tip, plastic EZ anchors hold very securly in the hole used for the push in plugs that hold in the rear plastic body molding. Can't remember which, but one size was a perfect fit.

Would love this bed installed in a low roof with moon roof - a usable bed and standing head room at the same time - who needs a westie anymore.

Pretty much done with Slide. For seals I used the rubber baseboard molding (it is riveted inside with big head rivets). Seems to seal good. One day I will line the inside, but first going to go camping.

Bed is 45cm by 73cm (cut down an Ikea matress that was kicking around the appartment).

Still have to hook up the skink drain (will use rv hose connection on the side to a blue 5 gallon jug to catch the grey water).

Here are the photos:

Dude thats some creative thinking and impressive design. Supe cool! And +10 gnarly points for using the retro louvered window!

Can you post some close up pics of the seals (baseboard moulding)?

Nifty and cool, but one concern I would have is wild camping in bear country. Or in rain.

Hey,
You Moved the bench seat left over towards the door and a bit forward ya?
Where did you get the sliders?
Really f'n awesome mod man!

You only have have to worry about bears if you are camping with your honey!
Looks like you designed it for rain, maybe some bugs to work out
but that's part of being a mod pioneer!

Hopefully you can make it out to a meet at some point,
there will be some drooling for sure.

Please PM me if you are getting over to the island at all
camping I would really like to check it out!

Right ON! 8-)

For anyone that Nay says this mod I would say to them,

I will try to get better photos of the seals with the slide out. So far not too bad little worried in heavy bugs but we will figure it out (for the first time in 4 years I am not doing a field season so the plan is to camp no where near bugs this year!).

We took it to Williams Lake and back on the weekend weather was sunny and hot to -10 and snow with everything in between. W put a tarp over the back hatch and it worked good (going to pick up some big magnets).

Not to worried in bear country as wood frame will slow down a bear, they can go through car windows pretty quick too. Silly bears!

Here are a few photos of the seals and the tire that expired on number 1 almost back to town (if anyone can suggest a good tire shop to repair it let me know :-D :-D )
Cheers David

Wow. Very nice work.

What were the circumstances surrounding that tire's demise?

Not sure...Lost air instantly and by the time I got over on the shoulder that was all that was left. Rim is fine....

As for the bench seat...I was going to do sliders. Walk around a junk yard for an hour and decided life would be better spent bolting it in (two sets of six 1/2 bolts through the floor with big washers). takes two minutes to switch positions.

wow, crazy about the tire, the warranty thing is still in the glove box is it not? or I think it was when you got it anyways. I don't know what it covers but thats a pretty extreme failure. I got them at discount tire in surrey I think, the spare was from costco.

Where did you get the sliders? The justy sleep system could use some streamlining.

Hey Adam,

The sliders are from Lee Valley.

Today, next adventure started. I just bought the Westi roof of a 1981 VW. Took a sawzall to it and cut it off the VW van below the rain gutter (so I have the whole roof as a template)......

Big dreams of a pop top!!!

I will look at the warranty, thanks!

Cheers
