Old Broken Turn Signal Switch

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Old Broken Turn Signal Switch

OK, I cannot be trained everytime I switch to the car and back to the Delica I am changing lanes with the wipers on and everytime it rains I am signalling.

So I am Looking for a broken old turn signal switch I can take to the Junk yard to find me the left hand version. RAM 50 or one of the many Mitsubishi made cars out there.

Anyone got an old one??? I can buy or borrow?

just pull the wheel undo the screws holding the assemblies and rotate to the other side of the wheel.

Has it been done?

Does it mount to either side?

I guess the answers do not mater that much since I need to pull my wheel to re-center it any how.

Just remember the arm you would have to stick out the window to signal with is the same one you'd flick the signal indicator stalk. :-)

It's really easier than you fear - I switch drive just about every day. RHD. LHD. RHD. LHD. Back and forth.

ya, but you must not be as retarded as me?

The only problem is the delica is a 5 speed so may run out of hands to signal and shift.

Might just need to give it more time (have not been driving much at the moment).

Loki, if you did that , then you would have reverse signalling . left would be right and right would be left. I replaced 3 and I dont recall enough room with the ignition. I have a new one coming ( must be on a boat or something, its been 2 months)

David, I have 3 old ones you can try. I was going to do the same thing, but never seem to find the time. I miss those days with a pocket full of wrenches at Ralphs

I switch just about every day too (work vehicles are LHD, personal RHD) and 99% of the time there's no issue, however I must say, old habits die hard, when I'm in the Delica, and in a high pressure situation (ie when you suddenly realize you want to turn NOW and you're 2 lanes over!) I invariably hit the wipers instead of the signals, which always strikes me as funny considering that I don't find myself having to think about it normally... but obviously some part of me still instinctively does it LHD.
Of course in all fairness, I should say that I have once or twice tried to signal in my work truck by using the gear selector... that's not a good idea by the way...

no the signalling wouldn't be reversed, push up when it's on the right side for left normally, after rotating the unit around down on the left would now be left, that is the way it should be. not sure about the wiring if they are long enough, but someone was mentioning at the last mini meet that when they have all that stuff off they noticed that there are the holes there to accommodate this manoeuvre.

I have a manual tranny too.
The car we have is a manual.

I just think to myself that the hand on the
stickshift doesn't move. The other one touches the
signal light. (opposite of the shifting hand)

You are right !
I immediately thought of inverting the controls instead of a 180 degree spin. Now you have me thinking. I'm going to open it all up when I get home and take a few pics. I am thinking the collar that holds the unit to the column is directly related to the ignition switch. I seem to recall it threading into where the ignition body bolts to the column. After 4 replacements you'd think I could draw a picture by now :roll:
