Tyre size to Alloy size safety question

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

I have a set of j15 6jj 33 mark2 shogun alloys that came pre fitted with 31 10.5 r15 A/T tyres on.

I read somewhere that 31/10.5/r15's are too wide to fit 6" rims properly and can pop off when cornering!.
Ive checked for writing on my alloys, looking for 15x6 or 15x7, but cant find this anywhere, just the data above
(j15 6jj 33) and I assume that the 6jj is width?????

Can anyone confirm if these are safe size tyres for these alloys??

My 2" lift is complete and all thats left is to fit these wheels/tyre combo

a reputable tire store will never mount 31" tires on 6" rims, the rims should be 7" for 31" tires (6.5" will do 30", and 6" shouldn't do much more than 29")

hmmm, not happy as this was last stage of doing my 2" lift and now im stuck with stock size wheels/tyres untill I can sort this.

I got the set of 4 alloys with already fitted tyres from ebay and went to pick them up myself and owner turned out to be a deli club member.

Anyway,
If I got a set of 7" alloys, would a tyre company swap the tyres from the old alloys to the new ones for me?? (at a cost of course)
because 2 of the tyres are brand new and the other 2 have loads of wear left in them.
Is this whats known as remoulds?? (forgive my tyre ignorance) and would remounds be safe on my deli that never goes faster than 70mph?

Also can anyone reccomend a type of 7" alloy that will definately fit an L300??

usually this service costs about $80-$120
because 2 of the tyres are brand new and the other 2 have loads of wear left in them.
Hard to say exactly what you mean, but on any 4wd, and especially a solid centre transfer case like the L300, it is never a good idea to run different tires, the 4 tires should be as close as possible in make/model/wear.

not sure what you mean be remoulds... do you mean re-treads? that's a different thing where a tire has a new tread section laminated on to old side-walls, not common in passenger tires, however very common on big trucks, and many highway rigs run them all the time.

I think by "remoulds" BFG means "retreads". Big trucks will use retreads to save money but I believe they only use one tyre on a four tyre truck (meaning axle with four tyres) so if it blows there is still another tyre holding up that part of the artic/semi. Personally I would not use retreads, as a matter of fact I would use the good but smaller tyres until I got the proper rims, even at the risk of looking a bit geeky. Besides, you could always make up a good story as to why your van looks geeky at first sight. Out of curiosity, why are you putting the fat tyres on in the first place? I might need enlightening here. I have 235/75R15s which are around 29.5 inches in diameter. Are you getting the extra width rims because your tyres are wider or because they have a bigger diameter? And why?

I found this other thread drifting about in a parallel universe and I wanted to see what would happen if I integrated it into the unified field of this thread's universe... so far, not a lot.
