mini spam for mountain bikers and road bikers:
Hi guys!
I know there is some hard core bicyclists here, so I figured I'd post this on an off chance I may be able to pass a killer deal onto someone.
We don't really have an appropriate 'sale' subsection for these kinds of posts, so forgive the post please.
through a contest at work, organized by Trek, I am able to buy 1 mountain bike and 1 road bike from Trek at a significant discount.
I have no budget for a bike, but it'd be a shame to let this slide, so here we go:
Mountain bikes:
Trek:
Remedy 8 $3200
Remedy 9.8 $3500
Scratch 9 $4800
Session88 DH $4800
Top Fuel $3700
or Top Fuel WSD
Fuel Ex8 $1900
Fisher:
HiFi DLX 29'er $2100
Roscoe II $2700
Superfly 29'er $3400
Road bikes:
Trek:
Madone 5.2 $2900
Also WSD
Madone 4.7 $2200
Also WSD
Fisher:
Cronus Pro $3200
I'll be up front that I'll be making a couple hundred bucks on the transaction, but considering the retail values of these bikes, these are killer deals.
I wish I had the cash, I'd be all over the Madone 5.2 myself... lol
P.M. if interested
Once again, I'm allowed only ONE mountain and ONE road.

I just gotta shake my head at those prices. I paid $300 for my first car, and I've never paid more than $400 for a bicycle. But then the only new car I bought (1982 Subaru), cost less than the camera bag and contents that I carried in it were worth, so maybe I'll shut up now.

well if I rode your $400 bike where and how I ride my bike I would snap it in half in under 10 minutes.

that is why I said if "I" rode it :) I bought my bike 2.5 years ago for $1200 I have put close to twice that worth of upgrades on it since then (pretty much just the frame is the same but I still am looking very forward to the day when I have enough to drop the $3000 on my next frame, that's right just the frame. It's like anything if your into it your get the best gear you can, in mountain bikes there is light, cheap and strong, pick any 2. :) oh and cheap is very relative

Ya, I was photographing a bowling champion once. He looked at my camera bag and asked, "why so much stuff? I've got my little camera, it takes great pictures. I don't need so much gear."loki wrote:[It's like anything if your into it your get the best gear you can, in mountain bikes there is light, cheap and strong, pick any 2. :) oh and cheap is very relative
I replied, "How many pairs of bowling shoes do you have? And how much did they cost?"
"Point taken!"
I could also mention the camera I'd like to have is the Leica M9 with the 50/0.95 Noctilux lens. The price is only about $20,000 for the two. But it does take good photos <g>.

Knolly if I ever get the money, if not Banshee is likely to be second choice but the Legend isn't as all-round as the Delirium (would mull over the V-Tach too though)deLOOKA wrote:Hands in the air....oh oh oh.....Intense? Thanks :) I know Trek make great bikes, but personally I will NEVER buy one... The guy up in Iskut who makes those fabulous little hobo stoves had named them "Trekstov" as in a little stove to take on treks. A micro business. One day he got a threatening call from a lawyer from Trek Bicycles telling him if he didn't change his name they'd "crush him." Bastards - unforgivable... I'll stick with Kona.

WT?..!!!! It's Trekstov not "Trek Stoves". Trek as world rights to that name? That's crap!
What if my name was Trekstov and I decided to label my products Trekstov? Crap I tell ya'!
It amazes me how a company so big can find out about the little guys.

I like the podium for sure but I can really only afford to own one big, and most of my riding involves pedalling up. the podium would be great for shuttling and racing but I'm much more a freerider than a DH racer so it would fit my style better, but the Delirium is lighter and easier to pedal but still handles the big stuff and racing nicely.

Re: mini spam for mountain bikers and road bikers:
BTW, all MTBers please go to http://vimb.com/bboard/viewforum.php?f=26 and look at some of the recent threads about motorized access to the Harbourview road area. for those that don't know this is in line to become the next MTB park on the south island and has some great trails (which already get damaged by quads and MXers) CRD and the MTB community where ambushed as the proposal for the park (that included MTBing) was going to the board to be approved. Now they are filling the media and politicians heads with half-truths and lies. If they get even partial access it will make it far to easy and tempting for them to rip up the trails that volunteers work so hard to create and maintain.
