It's been quite a while since my first post on the deli and things have changed a bit so figured I'd update it.
I travelled around the South Island for 3 weeks over Christmas & New Years and decided I wasn't happy with the layout of the interior, so I'm in the process of revamping and rearranging things and figured I'd add some progress shots.
I don't really have any shots of the interior before unfortunately, but it consisted of a fold out bed which folded away into the back of the van behind the rear seats. It worked well but it wasted a lot of space, which became very apparent with two of us travelling in it.
Anyhow, on with the pics:
Firstly I built a new storage comaprtment behind the front seats. It does require moving to get to the engine, but it's no biggy. This is designed so the bed will run onto it, thus maximising other usable space:
My Deli has the rear bench seat mounted where the single seats would be normally. This works well for me as I can carry 5 people and still keep the camping unit in the back all the time. Part of the rear seat then folds down and the bed parts are plonked in place (they're stored under the rear seat when not in use). These mount to the new storage unit and the large rear unit I fitted originally in the back. This layout enables me to have a spare seat in the back which is invaluable for getting dressed, taking off shoes, etc when it's raining outside.
I haven't had chance to do the roof unit properly due to lack of time, so I've cobbled this together for now as I'm hoping to go away for Easter weekend next week. This unit houses the TV and DVD unit so I can watch it in bed :) and also carries my fold out table as it doesn't fit anywhere else in the van:
The old cooker sat on draw runners in the back and pulled out, so I'm refining that and will put it back in, along with some pullout draws etc. Having the bed right forward leaves about 300mm at the back of the van, so this will get a bit of kitchen worktop or something on it for when I'm cooking.
Everything will be covered with some sort of grey material to try and match the original interior at some point.
Deep cycle battery and split charge system should be going in shortly when I finally get around to buying them. These will power the stereo, TV, extra lighting, etc.
Oh, and I've got some nice big nobbly tyres for it too now :D
