It's hard to say with this kind of photo, but you can move the snorkel horizontally where ever you want. Moving up and down gets more tricky, cause it's shaped to the body shape of the l300.STL wrote:Would this help (I unfortunatly don't have another one)?

All right, seems like we have already quite a few interested people. So far we have:
l300:
jaggedfish
MatthewR
SquamptonRyan
cobsweb
rdub
electrik_jester
atomiccanuck
STL
l400:
jpmccurry
Mr. Flibble
Flex
Will leave this thread up for a little bit longer to give more people the chance to join the group-buy.
cobsweb, this date might be tricky, cause slow and cheap shipping took last time about two month.
jpmccurry, would you want to take a l400 snorkel even if you have to do the mod Mr. Flibble posted?
STL, are you still interested?

Re: Snorkel for Delica L300 - group buy - ROUND 2
Update: Just heard back from the supplier. The snorkel for the l400 is roughly $50 (depending on how many we take) more expensive then the l300 snorkel. More parts.

Re: Snorkel for Delica L300 - group buy - ROUND 2
Maybe we should change the name of the thread from Snorkel for L300 to Snorkel for L300/L400? :p
I have 2 questions that hopefully we can find out from the supplier for the L400 snorkel:
1) How many bolts are at the bottom where it goes into the Airbox? (My guess is 4).
2) Which exact make/model of L400 snorkel is this? (So I can compare notes with the UK forum).
I just want to be sure I can get my mod on this snorkel to work - and then I can document it here so other members of the forum can add a snorkel to a Series 1 L400.

Re: Snorkel for Delica L300 - group buy - ROUND 2
I updated the previous post with more photos. Maybe that helps to decided whether the UK forum modification works or not.
This snorkel is the same as the Tanami Snorkel (Made in Japan) only with different material.
The exact type/model/year = L400 petrol / diesel 06/1997 +
There are 5 bolts at the bottom of the l400 snorkel .Mr. Flibble wrote: 1) How many bolts are at the bottom where it goes into the Airbox?

It's not a problem. I did that in the first round too, but be prepared, you have additional cost from around $120 for shipping to Europe.STL wrote:I'm still interested... one pb however, snorkel has to be sent to Europe. Would that be possible?

Hi fexlboi,
I'm in the final stages of a 95 l400 low roof purchase and don't know much about the benefits of a snorkel. Will it really improve highway performance/ engine life?
Do they pose any problems in extreme cold?

Let me quote another website:pattonmaclean wrote:Hi fexlboi,

The second benefit is actually the main reason why I went with a snorkel. I can feel a difference in performance for sure not sure about the fuel economy yet.Why a snorkel? Cause you never know how deep that creek is.... and once you are in, it is too late. Taking in water through the air intake can hydraulic an engine which leads to bent and thrown rods. We know this as we had our engine blow up on the way back from Rubicon once after taking an unexpected deep drop.
Other benefits of the snorkel are performance related. The snorkel installation improved power and gas mileage after installation. This due to the ram-air effect the snorkel has on feeding your intake (kinda like how a supercharger works, only not as forceful). Your engine also breathes cooler air from outside of the vehicle which produces more efficient power.
I don't see any reason why it should be a problem in extreme cold. You only need to be careful in very dusty conditions and long heavy rain. Just turn the snorkel head backwards and you are fine.
Keep in mind that the snorkel for the l400 need to be modified to fit your Delica. Mr. Fiddler posted a "How-to" in this thread.

How well is the seal at the bottom connection, I would be concerned about that before submerging.

What you mean with "bottom connection"?dfnder wrote:How well is the seal at the bottom connection, I would be concerned about that before submerging.
Right now I wouldn't be worried at all with water coming into the engine. The snorkel connections are all water tight and the air canister has a little vent on the bottom to let water out, but not in. Before you get water into the air intake, you are going to have a big aquarium in your floorwell.

I took a look at the mod and because of my limited skills I'll have to pass.
