regarding a hypothetical RHD ban...
Please excuse my ignorance but if BC were to impose a ban on RHD vehicles a la Quebec, any idea if said ban would restrict already licensed and insured RHDs? Would all of you current Delica drivers be parking your vehicles? For myself, who is looking to potentially purchase in the next year or so, this would weigh somewhat heavily in my list of pros and cons, if you know what I mean.

I find it highly unlikely that is will happen as there are MANY more people and businesses out here that would be adversely effected and fighting it in court, but I imagine it would be the same as the quebec ban, not allowing new RHD registrations, meaning you could still drive it, but couldn't get a new one or, I believe, sell yours in province.

Welcome to Delica Canada, Kent.
"To the best of my current knowledge", We have a constitution in Canada that protects us from that sort of tyranny
. Okay, let's take a look at this: There are two different law systems operating in Canada; "civil law", which operates in Quebec and "common law" which operates every where else in Canada. The way I understand this is civil law is based on an agreed upon set of rules ~ black is black, white is white. If you cross the street between intersections you get fined X amount of dollars. Where common law is based on precedence. If you cross the street between intersections any penalty is affected by aspects of legal history that came before the incident and can be argued as such. Therefore, since it was perfectly legal when I bought my Delica now if the laws get changed I am theoretically protected by a grandfather clause. Other precedences that should protect us is we are not the only RHD community in Canada ~ for example: There is also garbage collection; Canada Post, which I understand drive RHD vehicles because of a WCB safety ruling. RHD is not really a safety issue, if you drive a RHD vehicle you will have blind spots ~ but guess what? LHD vehicles have blind spots, too. Drive Accordingly. Ultimately, in my opinion ~ banning RHD vehicles is like banning left handed people. Having said that, My father was whipped on the wrist as a child every time he picked up a pen with his left hand.
I must advise you that are reading this: I am not a lawyer, these are only my opinions and are not necessarily shared by Delica Canada or any of it's affiliates, the Queen, MMC, Trevor down the street or anyone else ~ accept maybe the Imperial Reptilian Dynasty of the Zarconaon Parallel Galaxy in the 23rd dimension.
Nervous? What do you mean by that?

As the ban is completely hypothetical, the conditions attached to it are as well, there is no way to know.
In quebec the ban only affects NEW registrations, and both new and existing KEI class vehicles.
In BC I honestly don't think they would dare ban them, but if they did, who knows what conditions they would attach.

Thanks for taking the time to offer your two cents everyone. Obviously I don't expect anybody to predict the future. I am simply putting the question forward in a forum where I am certain there are people who can offer an additional take and help me make a more informed decision. You know, "due diligence" and all that jazz...
