How difficult are these to install on an L400? I'm fairly proficient with mechanical things, especially if I've got some directions to follow.
How would manual locking hubs affect the AWD mode on the L400?

it would make it so to use it you would need to either leave your hubs locked all the time or get out and lock then to use AWD.ShaneA wrote:How difficult are these to install on an L400? I'm fairly proficient with mechanical things, especially if I've got some directions to follow.

If I had a hitch and a pair of these on the front and something similar or a driveline disconnect on the back, would my L400 be towable for long distance without damage?

with a rear drive-shaft disconnect and the hubs you should be able to flat tow it. Any drive=shaft shop should be able to put a drive shaft disconnect in.DeliTan wrote:If I had a hitch and a pair of these on the front and something similar or a driveline disconnect on the back, would my L400 be towable for long distance without damage?

Re: Manual Locking Hubs L300 & L400 - Group Buy?
Anyone have more information on "Yijia"? I have never heard of them before. Where are they based out of?
Anyways, I am interested in a set, I hate my auto hubs, I just hope "Yijia" is good quality.
*edit*
Oh and I have a '92 Exceed, L300.
Thanks,
Chris

Re: Manual Locking Hubs L300 & L400 - Group Buy?
We have now two options for manual locking hubs for l300 & l400
Thanks to Christine (TardisDeli) we found a few Superwinch hubs in the States.
http://www.oreillyauto.com still has some in their warehouse. Just call them and ask for 1988-1998 / 28-spline Mitsubishi Montero Superwinch locking hubs (Part # 400543). The price is about $165 plus shipping. If you do prefer them over the Yijia please get them on your own.
Advantage: We know the overall good quality, shipping is faster
Disadvantage: You probably have some problems down the road with stripping bolts
If you still like the Yijia with the better bolts I would go ahead this week and order them. Now with that many people interested the price is probably around $150 - $160 plus shipping (should be not more than $20). I have no idea how the quality of this hubs are but the supplier sells just 4x4 stuff and claims these as well known in Taiwan and we had no problems with our first snorkel order.
So far in the group-buy:
thelazybrownfox
Firesong
kb&2dogs
Manitoba deli

Please let me know asap if you want to go ahead with Superwinch or with Yijia.

I'm still in, I need to see for myself if these are a quality hub that we can still get current production on.
