A strange question but would anyone be able to measure the thickness of an original radiator for a L300? My Deli is a '92. I replaced my radiator but I think the replacement may not be the correct one. I've been told it may not be thick enough and therefore not have enough capacity to cool sufficiently. Unfortunately I don't have my original to compare the new one to.
Thanks

Hi Corax,
Here is a link to a parts catalogue that Fexlboi posted in L300 Delica Downloads:
http://www.japancars.ru/cat/mitsubishi/ ... SNPT&mg=14
To your right you will see the radiator assembly. Click on that. Once you have the OEM part number you can take it to Nor-West Rads or whomever and they should be able to access the part. You might also want to check out CVI (604-247 0500), they did mine.
You ought to check out:

There is a lot of information in there.

Re: Radiator thickness
Corax,
Core thickness is 2.5 inches
Outside steel brackets are 2 3/4
Width is 22.5 inches bracket to bracket
19.5 inches from top of top tank to bottom of bottom tank
Those are from a 92 L300
Cheers

Re: Radiator thickness
Hmmm
My core thickness is 1.5 inches with an outside bracket width of 2.25 inches; there is a half inch gap between the front of the rad and the bracket. Width is the same as yours. But top to bottom is about 18.5 inches.
Does your rad look anything like mine? In the photos you can see the gap between rad and bracket.
Thanks for your help

Re: Radiator thickness
Corax,
I have the same one. Thats a replacement. Its a tough as nails PVC type that should get you a good 5 + years out of it.
Yes it is a tad smaller than stock, but just as functional. Mardy from Amazing Auto sells that one. He sold me mine. I kept my stock rad in hopes of a recore before this new one is done.
Cheers
Gregg
Edit - Corax, the second pic you took n now that I have my glasses on leads me to believe yours is metal. I would keep an eye on the temp gauge, but I dont see a really huge difference. It my be a different story in hot weather later in the year, but hell, run it as is for now and see what happens.

Re: Radiator thickness
You have an aluminium radiator with plastic tanks, definitely not stock. I did a little on line research into the differences between the aluminium & the copper/brass rad cores and there are pros & cons. Apparently the copper/brass better transfers heat but doesn't hold up to pressure as well as aluminium. Aluminium weighs much less but has long term corrosion issues, especially with hard water. Ultimately aluminium is excellent for race cars that require a light weight, high pressure system that doesn't have to last for years, where copper/brass transfers heat more readily, lasts longer but doesn't take high pressure like aluminium and weighs more. Personally I prefer copper/brass over aluminium ~ but that's just me.
Google: "aluminium vs copper/brass radiators" and see what you find.
