Cruise control retrofit?
I have installed cruise control units on many newer vehicles with VSS. Has anyone put one on a 2.5 pajero ? Do they have a decent VSS ( vehicle speed signal ) ?

Re: Cruise control retrofit?
Robinimpey installed cruise on his L300, I suspect there are some strong similarities...

Re: Cruise control retrofit?
I have a 93 LWB 2.5 Pajero. Went to Seattle over the weekend. Used the throttle as cruise control. Worked well except for two things: 1) It did not go past 100kph and 2) had to keep an eye on it, push it to slow down and push it all the way in before stopping.
On another note, I used to drive a VW bus and my cruise control was a length of stick wedged between to seat and the pedal.
Sorry for the thread hijack! I just couldn't resist.

Re: Cruise control retrofit?
Sorry, but I just HAVE to say something: using the throttle lock as a cruise control is VERY dangerous. The throttle lock is not intended as a cruise control, it's purpose is to keep the revs up while warming up a cold engine. There is no automatic release of the throttle lock should the need arise, and that need almost always arises when you have the least amount of time to be reaching under the dash to twist-and-push a knob.luckydad wrote:I have a 93 LWB 2.5 Pajero. That being said, if the GenI Pajero has a similar dash to the Delica, there should be a rpm signal you could use, but I suspect the speedometer is cable driven (like the Delica). In the GenII Pajero, the dash is electronic, so it would just be a matter of finding the VSS signal. My '94 is fitted for but not with cruise control.

I still miss my '94 Pajero!

Yea, so i pulled out the cluster to have a look, mechanical speedo, so no vss there. Also no abs. I dont really want to put magnets on the drive shaft, as i will be doing a fair amount of off roading with this. I guess i will have to look into those speeed signal generators. They go inline on the speedo cable.
