New power inverter installed

From Lordco $800......not cheap but made in Victoria by GoPower a part of Carmanah solar I think
1500 watt wired in with #2 welding cable and a 200 amp fuse , powers up a 700 watt microwave no problem.They have a good website also with lots of info on different size kits etc.

How come you didn't put your microwave facing back instead of sideway? Seems it'd be more space efficient. Tardisdeli watch out, you no longer have the microwave exclusivity!

Its for daily use at work , I've been tired of sandwiches forever and cold leftovers leave me .......... cold.
Its easy access standing at the side door and I can do a reach around from the front, and the rare time I have a passenger in that seat , they can still keep one leg stretched beside the micro.
I'm a carpenter and I'm often at 3 or more worksites in one day.

Yes, the TardisDeli noted the microwave, and its' odd sideways installation, but is impressed by the idea of access from the front seat ... handy whilst stuck in traffic, hmm. But TardisDeli is even more impressed by the 1500 watt SINE WAVE inverter (TardisDeli is modified sine-wave, but the only thing affected by non sine-wave is that is my Christmas Lights will ONLY stay on rather than go on & off in time to the music). Hope you put a huge fuse in (Ric, I think mine is 300 amp fuse for my 1000w inverter and 500w microwave). Welcome to the Microwave World of Delica Life. Cheers, Christine.

Well I guess there are at least 3 of us...

I bought the 1000W el cheapo inverter from China Tire when it was on for $79, and last Saturday, Home Despot had a "One Day Sale" on 700W el cheapo microwaves.

I didn't cheap out on the battery tho'. Its a $200 Gel Cell

I made tea yesterday!!!

I've been looking for a new supplier for heavy duty DC electrical stuff too. Anticipating Jay's response, I started looking at the Princess Auto website.

I got those type of connectors at Lordco, I used them to make my Sub easy to remove (only for + and - power) when I need the space.

HI,
We get our inline fuse 300 amp from West Marine (chain store, big online order system). Marine grade, built to last. Recommend Blue Seas or Magna Force brands (both made locally, and guarantee their products, wow. We are not happy with fuses from Princess Auto, they don't have big ones and their small ones die for no cause. If people have problems getting big fuses, Jay does have a supplier (but he needs to order thru work).

As for the electrical plugs that RichD photographed, called Anderson Plugs, used on forklifts and welding equipment. Available at Princess Auto in the welding section, Jay says on the wall by the men's washroom in Coquitlam Princess Auto. Gosh, it was sure handy when a neighbour needed a jump start, I didnt have to clear off the passenger seat and open the "bonnet" I just plugged my jumper cables into my anderson plug inside my sliding door, so easy with narrow clearance on the busy road.

I found 200A fuses on West Marine website, but I'm still researching mounting options. Please advise Christine if you can identify.

From Lordco, they sell a matching wiring kit with the inverter, it was $200 or so. Probably could have found cheaper if I shopped around but I wanted to get it done. The kit came with a 200 amp t type fuse and and 2 lengths of heavy @ss cable with connectors, #2 welding cable with heavy insulation, nice stuff very flexible.

check out this site it has recommendations for wire size and fuse type etc.
If I was starting from scratch I'de probably go with the marine type stuff others recommended.

Next project is battery isolater , wish there was a Princess Auto In Vic.
Any recommendations on that anyone?

The isolator is fine for allowing the alternator to charge two batteries and not allow them to drain power from either. The relay system is simular to what i did to the Tardis deli but i used a Blue sea solinoid in stead. The solinoid allows use to join the two batteries together to jump start the van in case the starting battery dies. That relay won't do that not high enough amperage rating. It takes 275 amps to start the engine.
