So RichD is doing an order for blanking plates for the L300 that are thick enough to stand on there own and can be drilled for a pyro sensor? If this is correct I would like to be on the list to buy one.

Just a thought, but what about tapping each one, the exhaust side for a pyro, and the manifold side for the boost gauge, and then they can be blanked off with bolts, I don't know the thread sizes, but it would make a nice addition. I know the boost gauge 'should' come from the pipe to the pump, but the cheap plastic tees they come with are easy to break old pipe work is often best left alone...

Not all pyro gauges need the same size hole, not all users need the pyro. But anyone can use a drill...yojimbo wrote:Just a thought, but what about tapping each one, the exhaust side for a pyro, and the manifold side for the boost gauge, and then they can be blanked off with bolts, I don't know the thread sizes, but it would make a nice addition. Main goal here is to fab the piece that can't be bought in retail, and this to serve the broadest audience.
I'd like to change the thread title to say "How Many People Would Want An EGR Blanking Plate For Delica or Pajero"

Re: How Many People Would Want An EGR Blanking Plate For L300?
this is not my thread so I was not going to make any coments until I was asked to,
I make the exhaust side out of 1/4" Steel. I make the Intake side out of 1/4" Aluminium
I dont have a cnc machine to knock off 100 at a time, they are all hand cut and made using an old egr as a template so I make sure each one fits and I do charge extra to tig weld on a Bung for a pyro meter in the steel side, and did also tig in a fitting into one aluminium side for a customer who wanted to use it for a propane injection port.

This is the exhaust side with the pyro bung Tig welded in and the probe , ready to bolt in. some say you can just bolt it right down, I prefer to put some copper RTV sealant its heat activated so you will be sure to have a good seal, and regular RTV on the Aluminium side, this way you know you have a good air tight lock, Very important when your trying to get as much boost as possible.
On an L400 this is where I ran the wires, I got a little messy with the copper goo, but this is what it looks like

I am in depending on cost.I Recomend Corrosion resistant SS,but mild steel would work too.Is it possible to add a boss for a Thermocouple?
Cheers,

If you use stainless steel it won't corrode but everything else around it will.

Yes you are correct I apoligize, stainless and Alum are further away from each other on the galvanic chart then mild steel and Alum.On another note Mild steel and alum are also Dissimialar metals however and will corrode as well.If you place an insulator in between the two metals like a gasket problem is eliminated.
