Exhaust Replacement

The one thing that's completely shot on my Delica is the stock exhaust.

I'd like to hear from people who got theirs replaced - I'm thinking about a 2.5" setup, maybe stainless depending on the price. I hear muffler tech in Port Coquitlam does an excellent job, but I need to shop around a bit.

What did yours cost and where did you get it done?

I'm also interested in exhaust replacement stories. I'm planning on re-routing mine to free up space in the spare tire area for a WVO tank.

We had our exhaust replaced at OK Tire (in Parksville), and although the air was somewhat blue during the installation, they seem to have done a good job, even had the fancy smancy chrome bit to put on the end for $20. They seem to do quite a bit of Delica work there, the guy definately knew what he was doing when it came to bending and fitting the pipe.

What was the cost of that job? Did you go for the larger exhaust or the stock size?

I guess it's stock, we didn't pay the bill, VI Custom did because it should have been replaced before we bought it, I think the invoice was around 150, tho I could check if you need to know exactly, I have a copy of the bill in the van

I ordered a stainless 2.5 inch pipe from Japan. It looks good. It sounds really good. It passed HairCare. and it installed with something like 3 bolts and 3 hangers in less than an hour. ( OK well I did have to take the trailer hitch back and have it re-customised for $65.00 ) I think I paid just under $700 for the pipe and another $80 for freight because it came in a can with other things. In the long run, it is liable to be one of the best value modifications that I've done so far. It will probably last for years and might also extend the life of the turbo.
This really is one of the things that someone (else) should organize a group buy on. There are a few people who would be happy to source the pipes (JDM, DelBigRig, ccautos and others.) I got mine through Abbotsford Japan Auto. I would organize a group buy myself but I won't need another pipe for years and years, will I?

I have tailpipes in stock that fit onto the back of original mufflers . I had them fabricated locally and it is easily installed . Most mufflers are in good shape coming into the country but it seems a lot of tailpipes are corroded so I had a shop make up a `bulk` order for us . We sell them for $65 (including clamp) plus taxes .

Yeah, it's mostly my tailpipe that's really rotting away and literally dangling now... but I'm up for the 2.5" exhaust upgrade, although I didn't know performance pipes were so costly... was quoted $860 for a custom "mandrel bent" exhaust with a stainless steel muffler and aluminized steel pipes at http://www.muffler-tech.com ... I think I'll be shopping around at the cheaper 'press bent' shops, I can't afford quite that much.

hi, go to Kingsway in Burnaby a muffler place, right in front of middle gate mall you wont miss it, i think they charge $450 for stainless pipe including muffler from the exhaust pipe thru the rear muffler all the way to the back tailpipe. thats what they quote me last time i am just not now sure if
21/4 or 21/2 size. go for a visit & talk to the owner hes so friendly,Hes sells reasonable price & good workmanship

Got it done at Quiet Muffler & Brake across from middle gate... $395.50 all in with a stainless steel muffler and tip. 2.25" from the first bend, so it's not quite as good as it could be but better than it was. Took them about 20 minutes of an allotted hour, not the 4.8 hours the guys at the 'pro' shop quoted me.

Looks and sounds great!







Now on with the list... Hitch, injection timing, alignment, window tint...

that looks quiet. tisk tisk. haha. looks nice, but why is there a muffler?

I was tempted to go with something a little louder but then there's no way to be stealthy... This muffler is a straight-thru design so it does have a better growl now when it's working hard, just gotta have the timing adjusted so it doesn't have to work quite as hard.
