so, sounds like something is rubbing, when 4wd is engaged, it increases when the speed increases, and its been doing it for a bit, I do a lot of driving on dirt. more then pavement. Ive never used 4wd on a hard surface, normally just use it to smooth out washboard on dirt roads and hold my shit together through corners.
Ive been hoping it would go away, but it is not, last time, i engaged it i locked in the hubs, rolled forward abit, no noise, rolled a bit more no noise, drove for a while no noise. then sped up drove for an hr or 2, and then when i slowed to disengage i could hear it again.
sounds like something maybe resting on a drive shaft or something, but cant see anything down there. any ideas?
oh yeah there is no vibration or anything through the drive lines they feel solid.

Have you changed your Diff/LSD fluid lately? I change mine every two years, along with the transfer case; tranny & filter; grease her nipples up.... Actually, I do the tranny more like once a year, unless it's brown in which case she goes on an ATF crash diet until it's pink again.
