OKAY so i had my van inspected today [ mydnight auto i saanich ] and i take my paper work to the auto plan place and they tell the electronic form they have to fill out requires 13 characters and the japanese vin is only 11 so they need to look at the vehicle and find a second vin # and if they cant find a second vin i have to apply for a new vin . has anyone else heard this and do i really have to take my van to the auto plan place ? i am so close i can taste it !!!

Hi, Bryan,
yes they change the rule as from first week of june, they now use the original 13 digit number you have in your car. now there is 2 vin on it. one is right under your driver seat beside the seat handle, take the plastic over & you can see it. other is right under the the Driver seat also firewall, as you can see on your driver seat when you you adjust the driver seat forward or backward under between the floor & seat you can see a cut carpet like a square open it & there you can see the 2nd Vin number, show it to them & you wont have problem registering it.
but you can only do it during working days, Monday thru friday
9:00 -4:30 as your auto plan broker has to call ICBC vehicle registration department to ask authorization, then they will send and fax all your ducument to icbc, they will do to 2 stages transaction to do this process. it takes about 20 to 30 minute depend on how fast the person do the document for you, pls note you cannot registered it during weekend & after hour, they need to call ICBC Vehicle registration not ICBC Broker inquiry, ask them to call Vehicle regitration directly,

well i got it all done today ! went to a different auto plan place and they were able to do it,not sure if they missed something but they gave me plates and paper's so i THINK i'm ok ?
