Anything cheap?
I have a tinkering for small mods...
What can a person do with a limited budget to tweak or such the L300?
Things like swap the back door 'rams' (whatever you call them) to get a little
more lift to the back gate when it's up.
That kinda stuff.
Any ideas or things that don't cost much, just a little time?

Re: Anything cheap?
It's all relative to each person.
Depends on your skills.
If you can fabricate/install an intercooler, lift kit, larger turbo, twinpiston brakes, weld bushbar/roofrack, interior fabrication , etc ...
Then most of those things are cheap because it's 90% labour.
Only free easy things I can think of have already been done and posted in this area of the forum.
Swapping rear door struts
Sealing front quarter panels
Relocating front oil cooler on 5spd
swapping out curtains
Removing jumpseat from lowroof
Levelling out torsion bars
Diy awning
And a host of other things people have done
There's a lot posted herealready

Re: Anything cheap?
i rhino lined my roof, painted my rims, in the middle of painting my bumpers, removed egr and installed a pyro and boost gauge, for about 350 bucks and still have most of my paint and primer left.

Re: Anything cheap?
TinyToy got the idea. Free or close to it.
3-500$ isn't close :) Calipers and such aren't cheap parts wise.
I've done the strut swap on the doors (thanks Tiny), lined the roof, did the bars,
front bumper, redid some lighting and such. EGR is removed and
turbo has been replaced as well as all the vacuum hoses. Boost gauge
in and looking good. Don't have the dough for a Pyro and not too concerned
about that one just yet. Batteries
are good, alternator I did, frost plug for a block heater I did,
Frantz oil filter I did.. not interested in a lift.. that gets expensive
plus it means you have to redo tires to make it decent.
I did reseal the panels, removed and sealed moonroof areas, no rust.
Hmm relocate the oil cooler, might looking into that for the reasoning
part and see.
I'm still trying to fab up a decent removable table for inbetween the
captains chairs and rear seat. I had a temp one which wasn't
that great.
Just had some time and was looking for ideas.

Heated mirrors; you will be the first on this continent who did it! I will do it on my L400 when I get it.

Re: Anything cheap?
Steal some of your wife's pink nail lacquer and paint little hearts on the outsides of your wing mirrors. That's pretty cheap.

Firesong how about a front bed, over the front seats, for your kidlets?

Re: Anything cheap?
Hey there's an idea.
I don't need the front hammock for the kids. I had that for the VW westie
and now the kids are too big. It was a great thing when they were tiny though.
However
I dislike not being able to turn on interior lights at the back from the front.
I have some LED stuff, I'll figure out a switch etc and do that next.
Thanks

I've seen a cot put up across the front seats that worked well.

Re: Anything cheap?
You could remove your crummy EGR valve and blank it out,It will lower your egt and slightly help your fuel economy, its also the perfect spot to mount a future pyro.
I can offer you 2 steel plates 1/4 thick drilled and painted with ceramic for $12.00 ( About what you would pay for a bottle of pink nail polish)
is that a cheap mod?
Cheers.

Re: Anything cheap?
How about building your own snorkel. Can be done out of cheap Home Depot stuff and gives you a better performance.
