After replacing hubs to manual..
With manual hubs, if you turn them to lock
will the Lock light come on automatically regardless of
4x4 shifter position?
Thanks

Re: After replacing hubs to manual..
Weird ... on my austrian delica the 4X4 light comes up even if the hubs are not locked. I got stuck in the sand once ... saying words on this damned delica and its supposed 4x4 abilities. It turned out that i forgot to lock the hubs and I was in 2 wheels mode with the 4x4 light on. When i lock the hubs, the light does not come up when i'm in 2 wheels mode so that I have to think about unlocking them.
I should check this maybe?

Re: After replacing hubs to manual..
4x4 light and wheel lock light are two different things.
You can switch both on separately (with individual lights) but you only have 4wd once you lock your hubs AND change into 4H or 4L gear
Also, you don't need to reverse your van to disengage gears once you switch the manual hubs back to 2wd.

I think I don't have the "wheel lock light" on mine but I should check this out.fexlboi wrote:4x4 light and wheel lock light are two different things.

-bulb in dash may be burned out
-wiring to the sensor pickup may be damaged/broken/disconnected
-front hubs may not be locked (are you turning them until they 'click' or 'clunk' into place?)

Re: After replacing hubs to manual..
As I understand the manual hub setup,
I can use 4 L without locking the hubs and the rear wheels
will lock into low. I can drive like this correct?
I'm thinking for places where I don't necessarily need
4x4 but just a lower gear range. (not on pavement)

Absolutely...I used this trick when I had a manual transmission truck pulling a trailer and starting off on a hill.

Yep - I use it for backing a loaded trailer up my steep concrete driveway - The big advantage of manual hubs imo

Happy Day!

The L300 has a center transfer box, so it wont care if its turning anything or not.
