Carrying capacity

Post by wannadelica »

Does anyone know if you can fit a 4x8 sheet in a Delica. If so, can it be done on the flat or does it have to be placed diagonally.

The space between the wheel wells is roughly 4'2" so you can fit a standard four by eight sheet of plywood flat in an L300 Delica. I think that a stock Delica is pretty much a 3/4 tonne ~ however, the Bali bomb, which was estimated to be one and one quarter tonnes, was delivered in a Delica... poor thing.

We had 14 sheets of 1/2" drywall!

And yes, it'll lay flat on folded-shut rear seat, the folded-open captain's chairs, and the engine hump. If you take the seats out, you'd be able to stack it to the roof!

I've filled the back of the L300 with lumber galore, including 4x8 sheets.

The Delica makes an excellent moving van; love it.

Fits in my LWB 400 Royal with ease, lots of room to spare. I am not certain about a SWB however.

I'm still new to this, but I tried to get 3 sheets of 1/2" plywood into my SWB Delica 400 a couple weeks ago. I went vertical, between the seats. It kinda worked. But there was a few inches sticking out the back, more at the top, and no way was the rear door going to close. Since I was in a rush, had my youngest along in a booster-seat, and only live a few blocks away from he lumber store, I didn't futz with it.

I've still got two full sheets that I could experiment with, but the Delica's at the shop at the moment.
