I'd really need to have a closer look but I'm concerned with stress/fatigue, especially on the thinner plate where the square tube is resting before reaching the shackles. Might work for a while but aie aie aie, I'd love to see you reinforce it! Please prove me wrong!

Nonetheless, I love the look (aside from that Toyo thing at the back) and wish you the best, great set up!

I would love to see how anyone else has made a bumper attach. There is really not much to attach to back there. The trick with a Unibody is spreading the load over lots of area.

It is not just resting on the thin plate at the back (it is also supported by where the back step attached! The thin plate at the back is two thin metals thick. I tend to over build when I build so not to worried about it failing (I will keep an eye on it). The tube is resting on the shackle area. Just one side of tube without the bolt or cross piece attached supported 400 pounds of weight with no flex (I have two of those now bolted plus the support across resting on the back lip and bolted through the original step mounts.

I will keep an eye on it.

I did notice when drilling that the metal in the frame is harder then the mild steel. This is why I did not weld! I would be concerned of softening the metal.

If enough people can not sleep at night I can remove the Toyota emblem (I find it funny)

I will try to show up for the next meet or anyone who needs a look PM me I am at in South Vancouver (Vancouver side of the Knight Street Bridge).

Sounds better! 3 contact points is already much stronger. If you think of it the hitch found on multiple l300 has a decent tong weight, way more than a spare tire... I'm sure you looked at those before going ahead with your project. The pictures made it look weaker than your explanations!
