I have "truck envy"!
Was on my way back to Calgary after spending the long weekend on The Coast and spotted these two lovely specimens for sale. Trying to figure out how to convince my wife that one of these is a necessary addition to our collection of vehicles...
... she did see them... she's sitting in the car behind the 6x6. They are in Golden, BC. I have no idea what the guy is asking for them but will be finding out.

I drooled over those as well on Monday as we rolled through. Thanks for the pictures so I can start my research.

You'll need a very large wallet. Very large.
They are popular overseas for use as overland vehicles and usually run in the five to six figure 000,000 range depending on whats been done to it.

That's okay, those trucks are large enough to hold a large wallet.

The river fording... or actually, river driving starting at 6.24 is pretty awesome! Wouldn't want to have to fill the tank on the 8x8 though - 4000 gallons! Eeep!tonydca wrote:Next time I need to carry 15 tons of stuff over the tundra, I'll know who to call!

I think that's water carrying capacity in the back; 4000 US Gal ~ 15000L ~ 15 tons = weight limit.Jaz wrote:The river fording... or actually, river driving starting at 6.24 is pretty awesome! And you're right - that river fording is pretty remarkable. Helps to have the engine way up top like that.
One thing kinda makes me wonder - if the company is still in business ,why are they selling those two trucks? And if it were me selling them and I still had a bunch of them running, I'd be selling my worst two dogs. Hmm.... Mechaincs special anyone?

Re: I have "truck envy"!
Awesome video! Love it!
Just spoke with the fellow who owns these beasts. He is the Interface Logistics guy and has a bunch of them. Only these two are for sale right now. So you are going to ask the $35,000 and $45,000 questions, right? Catch that?... very subtle
Smaller truck, smaller price... bigger truck, bigger price. Has some spare parts, access to tires - the 4x4 has newer tires and the whole undercarriage has been re-worked. The 6x6 could use new tires and isn't pretty but is very solid, less mileage on it... about 100,000km I believe. The 4x4 is not turbocharged, 6x6 is - same engine otherwise. Both have self-recovery winches which is great because a gang of Delicas couldn't pull these out of wherever they are going. Love the manufacturer's statement on "offroad limitations"... listed as "none"
...
I dunno... I am just turned on by these monsters... would make an awesome camper... pretty darn cool!

The 8x8 version has a 400 liter fuel tank.tonydca wrote:I think that's water carrying capacity in the back; 4000 US Gal ~ 15000L ~ 15 tons = weight limit.Jaz wrote:The river fording... or actually, river driving starting at 6.24 is pretty awesome! Are you sure this company is still in business? Maybe they went out of business and that the only two MANs their had. Can not imagine a whole fleet of these trucks are profitable to keep for a smallish company.

Re: I have "truck envy"!
Yup, the company is still in business and apparently expanding. He is planning to bring more of these in and is testing the market although he says he is not interested in being a "retailer" so-to-speak. Agreed, this is perhaps indicative of dumping the most tired of the bunch but I also think he may have a line on much newer versions - these two are older (mid to early 80's).
These are apparently fully maintained and have been inspected every year to keep them roadworthy and legal on the streets. Of course, anyone looking at them would have them thoroughly checked over (like any used vehicle).

Re: I have "truck envy"!
There are tons of them for sale in Germany. Some with even as low as 750km. Not many people can afford the bill of about $800 at the gas station anymore, so they need to get rid off it.

Re: I have "truck envy"!
I could see those as a great way to drive down to Park Royal for a little shopping. The quest for a parking spot. Finding a place to fuel could be interesting...
