Short circuit after radio wiring
Short circuit after radio wiring
Ran into a little problem after wiring in a new radio that I thought I'd pass on. I wired everything up and it worked great, until I turned the headlights on last night. The fuse to the dash lights and tail lights blew. Radio still worked fine. I had just added a switch for my glow plug control so assumed I must have a short somewhere. After pulling everything apart and finding nothing, I went to the mdocuk forum and found out that there is a wire to the radio that acts as a ground until the headlight switch is turned on, then it is 6V - I assume for a radio light. It does not get power when the ignition is turned on. I had wired the ground from the radio to this source. Lesson learned....

Soooooooo..... Can you please post a link to where you found some information on this???? i.e. the link the the mdocuk forum discussion that you were reading? Or can you explain how you fixed this issue? Do i just need to direct wire the stereo to a ground?
