Catalog inspired counter

Post by Shaun Van Ramen »

Has anyone else gone through the Delica Accessories Catalog and started drooling like me! :mrgreen:

It inspired me to make a counter for Shaun Van Ramen today. Pretty simple, but I believe it will utilize the area behind the front seats more effectively. I still need to install cup holders just behind the centre console. They will come soon enough.

The supplies list was simple;
Pine laminate shelf ($20 - Home Depot)
Trim - ($12-14 - Home Depot)

Everything else was on hand. A nice sunny day job with about 3 hours of labour (I know - you can tell).
There are more pics in my gallery.

I really wanted to build a wall console unit with TV, DVD, microwave and fold-out bar, but then my Co-pilot gave me THAT look so I opted for just the counter :-D

Dreaming up the folding bed and window treatments - As a newbie hear I find everyones ideas good stimulation.

To respond a little late. Yes it does. I made sure. The counter sits just low enough to clear when you ope the armrest.

Not to mention the whole counter just pops out. It fits tight on the sides and there is a block that fits into the indentation of the center console to prevent it from sliding.

Do you need to remove it to lift up the seat/engine bay access ?

Looks great :M

I would say so. Everything I have on that bulkhead has to come off before I open the engine compartment.

That's an Affirmative! But you just lift it up and out - 10 sec. worth of work.

If you do, the way to go is to remove the plastic step first. Way more void behind it.

For a nice stock looking finish without cutting up your originals (I know you'd hate to do so) get a second-hand plastic step guard and cut it out.
