First trip and man was I glad to have a delica

Post by romanmarkus »

New to the forum and new to my delica. Picked up a 91 super exceed in Vancouver and made a roadtrip to my hometown Smithers. I knew I would run into Josh at some point and it finally happened today. Funny I knew his name from this forum before even running into him. (hope that didn't weird you out josh) ps. very nice wvo conversion, sooo jealous...

anyhow, to the trip part of this post... from smithers we drove to an area called the suskwa valley and camped out by the river. I didnt bring my tent because ive taken the seats out from the deli and put in a mattress for this trip. Lo and behold a huge storm brewed up after a beautiful hot and sunny day and the wind picked up enormously. From the relative safety of the back of the deli we watched trees bending to the power of the wind while enjoying beverages. I was just glad to not be in a tent at that particular moment as many trees in that area succumbed to the wind and were laying all over the roads. Power is still out in some areas up here. I think hydro had a hell of a time cleaning up that mess. I've never seen anything like it. On every section of power lines between poles there were trees leaning on them and in some cases the lines were laying on the road. Luckily we were able to drive around through the ditches. Yaya 4wd.

cheers, :-D

Sorry Josh, I haven't taken any pics yet with the van...

The canoe is sort of a permanent fixture right now as I've just been hauling it around and doing spontaneous trips on lakes and once down the bulkley. I'm heading up to iskut this weekend (I'll bring my camera) and doing some camping and canoeing and such.

Nice pic coming over that log, and kudos to the cameraperson for holding that steady through the river, nice work,

cheers,

-Markus
