It's been about - 15 over night the last 2 nights and my van has been stone dead in the morning. It seems my sliding door keeps coming open, does anyone know if something goes on with the electrical latch thing that holds the back of the door shut when its cold out? ideas?
Thanks

A cold snap after typically damp weather is a recipe for automotive electrical problems. On my block alone, neighbors have the hoods up replacing electrical bits and a car alarm is going nuts for no apparent reason.

I think that mechanism is just a cam that rotates from "open" to "latch" whenever the door switch closes lightly enough to not close the cam by physical force.
Whenever I close my sliding door lightly, I hear the cam activate.
Whenever I or my kids shut the door, uh - "firmly", I never hear the cam operate.
I'm guessing if the cam is not enjoying the cold, it might not make it all the way shut.
tl;dr - Slam the sliding door if it's cold out!

Mamalou, if this is a L400 then the culprit is the lubrication in the locking mechanism. There is a lot of talks about it on delicaclub.ru; they post in Russian though.

Profister - You wouldn't happen to be able to translate me some directions on what to lube up would you?Profister wrote:Mamalou, if this is a L400 then the culprit is the lubrication in the locking mechanism. There is a lot of talks about it on delicaclub.ru; they post in Russian though.

CREGAN, I need some time to find and translate that multi-page thread on delicaclub.ru and I can also take a look at the really good workshop manual I just received; 500 pages of print and pictures in A4 format.
