Alternative to turbo timer?

Post by Schwa »

I live up a fairly big hill, so my Delica needs it's turbo cooled off before the engine shuts down and I don't have a turbo timer, so manually letting the engine run for a few minutes is a little annoying, not to mention the fumes produced and wafting into the house when I'm doing that.

I'm thinking there's gotta be a better, more environmentally friendly way of cooling it down than letting the engine idle or driving around gently. Does anyone know if it's possible to somehow put an electric oil pump in there so that when you shut off the engine it keeps pumping oil to the turbo for a while, maybe with a temperature sensor so it knows when to shut off? Seems like that would be a lot better, unless it needs the air flowing through it. Maybe it could even double as a pre-lube system with a 3-way valve?
