So I'm looking to install an oil temperature sensor like this one - in the sump. I'd like to avoid invasive and hacked modifications of the oil pan.
One approach is to use the oil level sensor hole, like this aftermarket solution for a completely different vehicle. Another I considered was putting something inline on the oil return hose.
Below is an image of the oil pan. I haven't been able to get a part number on the oil level sensor or a detailed illustration. Thoughts?

You could tee off your oil pressure sender for your low oil warning light. It only requires a "splitter".

Why don't you get an oil pressure sensor instead ? Much more valuable than a temp sensor on these engines.

I want oil and water temperature for sure, especially in extreme cold and hot weather situations.jfarsang wrote:Why don't you get an oil pressure sensor instead ? Much more valuable than a temp sensor on these engines.
As for oil pressure being more important...
I agree. But why not both?

Re: Installing an aftermarket oil temperature sensor
good point
I like 3 gauges. Not overkill but looks nice. oil pressure, pyro, boost.
More can look good too ... what other gauges do you have planned ?

You mean how many sensors. Gauges are expensive, sensors and switches are cheap.jfarsang wrote:good point![]()
