What a masterpiece! I almost don't want to see the progress until the finished product is unveiled...almost! Keep the pictures coming, it looks great! :-)

not too sure to be honest. But it is shorter that the full size four door Pickups out there. Did no one pick up on the door clue? The second 'finished' picture really gives it away!! 8-)

Officially THE coolest Delica L300 I have ever seen anywhere 8-)
Are you thinking of rigging it to 6x6 ? I can imagine it would need some intuitive engineering, but from what I've seen you are more than up for some of that!

You got me on the door...... it looks like any other Delica sliding door from this moment.... what if you took a picture of it when it's open, or would that be telling? She's looking very clean in the pictures. Have you painted the windscreen wipers white?

I am really glad to see someone take a project like this on. There have been discussions about doing mechanical modifications such as running a PTO from the transfer case and whether it would be possible given the general mechanical savvy of the club membership ~ and here you have set a fine example of what can be done. Well done, Arnold, and thank you for sharing the process with us.

In two earlier photos we can see a strut up top and an apparent bottom half of the door in the closed position. Considering his background, I would infer its an horizontal hatch style design with a floating step, somewhat like an aircraft. Or maybe the bottom half is a slide to entertain the kids at rest stops.

1 Delica low roof + 1 Delica Crystal roof + A heavy dose of Crazy/Awesome sauce = One of the coolest things I've ever seen!!!!......So cool! The entire project! You are like a hero to this forum! And me...Many questions remain but only one is important at this time. Do you and Stretch have a theme song?...
You've never heard of the Delinnium Falcon? It's the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs...

So Many questions,

1 Yes I will power the second axel, it will be done with a DANA (sp) transfer case with a PTO, this means there will be two rear drive shafts. In addition the second axel is positrack. I need a bigger engine first.

2 Falco, if you look closely you will see that there is no track on the outside of the van for the door. The door is now a clamshell that opens both up and down. I am having a step made that will be attached to the lower door to make egress easier. Island Hopper, you nailed it!

3 Yes the wipers were painted white. (still unsure of that decision)

4 No theme song, got any ideas!!

5 I am still awaiting the front bush bar with the winch attached. the CB antena must also be attached.

6 just measured, sans bushbar 18 feet.

Also look at Toyota cases as you can get a divorced setup and little smaller then a DANA20. Do you have a second 2.5L you could put them side by side?

I vision this Pacman mouth opening and eating things up!

I vote Black...do I get a vote...

In case anybody was wondering what that loud pop was off in the distance it was the sound of my mind blowing when I saw the final results of this project. Verrrrry cool! If you need any drivetrain stuff PM me. I'm getting a bunch of high angle driveshafts made right now (no more dead U joints if you lift your L300!), but my guy does nothing but driveshafts, PTO's, rear ends, etc. By the looks of it you've got it all under control, but if you hit a snag let me know!

So Many Answers,

1 Yes I will power the second axel, it will be done with a DANA (sp) transfer case with a PTO, this means there will be two rear drive shafts. In addition the second axel is positrack. I need a bigger engine first. ~ I would love to hear what your plans are for that.

2 Falco, if you look closely you will see that there is no track on the outside of the van for the door. The door is now a clamshell that opens both up and down. I am having a step made that will be attached to the lower door to make egress easier. Island Hopper, you nailed it! ~ Way cool, that would have been my choice.

3 Yes the wipers were painted white. (still unsure of that decision) ~ Not to worry, I have someone working on you to straighten out your temporary insanity.

4 No theme song, got any ideas!! ~ Strongly recommend not using "Love Story". Theme to Miami Vice? Meh. What about the theme for the "Empire" from Star Wars.....

5 I am still awaiting the front bush bar with the winch attached. the CB antena must also be attached. ~ Why CB? You are so limited. Get a HAM license and you can use more than a small corner of the 20metre band. Regarding the bambie bar ~ are you going with chorme or what?

6 just measured, sans bushbar 18 feet. ~ Is that all (rhetorical)? MLB is 16' with bambie bar.

Falco.

I'll look into that

Not too sure that's practical

Do you want one???

miami vice theme?

NO!

Locateding it as a parking guide?

Partly

6 just measured, sans bushbar 18 feet.

My Dodge extened van was 19feet
My 1996 Ford F350 Crewcab Long Box was 23 feet

I have told a few people that it\s shorter than some of the long box 4 door P/U's, but it don't look it!

OTT industries makes it. http://www.ottindustries.com/divorcetoyota.htm.

You have seen the Dodge Ram T-Rex 6X6 designs? http://www.fourwheeler.com/featuredvehi ... index.html

Now you are pulling Practical card!!!! Not sure what a good motor would be? I like the OM617 Mercedes cheep but only 120hp...Next, 4BT expensive, but lots of power (basically a dodge cummins missing 2 cylinders), next maybe a Landcruiser Diesel (I do not know much, but lots of parts out there for them)

do I get a vote...[/color]

Do you want one??? Sure Black...truck looks so pretty!

4 No theme song, got any ideas!!
miami vice theme?

NO! All I had.
