Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Injection Pump Question - What's this?

Post by BCDelica »

Two quick questions, what are these two items attached to my injection pump?

Image

First one as a switch that activates at WOT.

Second is vacuum diaphragm that appears able to increase the idle speed, most likely when starting cold; they hold open when the engine's been running for a moment. Big question; why doesn't diaphragm rod doesn't touch the throttle assemblies in both of my Delicas? My first guess why it doesn't touch is do to throttle cable stretch, and it needs to be tweaked.

Regards,
Kev

Item #1 This is indeed the idle up for the AC system. When I reset the idle on my van I backed this off completely, set the idle, then adjusted the arm so it just touched. I checked this by making sure a piece of paper was just being held between the idle adjust and the throttle lever.

Item # 2 I have no idea what that is but I can tell you that my van does not have it. I have a manual transmission though so maybe this is a clue.

Item #3 Now to add to the mix would someone be able to tell us what Item #3 that I have added is? It sits on top of the throttle assemble and is tied into the electrical system. It may be a sensor or an acuator ( althought probably not the latter).

Item #1 - thanks that makes sense, just a quick adjustment should bring that function back.

Item #2 - I've guessed some sort of overdrive sensor/override switch?

Item $3 - may be wrong, but I was under the impression that's a throttle position sensor or idle control for the injection system.

Was asking cause I felt I could be wrong on all counts.

Thanks

Did anyone figure out what exactly #2 is yet? Mine is broken and the wire cut and I can't seem to find from where. My best guess is a WOT cutoff for the AC but I couldn't find any wiring schematics to confirm.

I believe that item #3 is a throttle position switch which provides control to the EGR valve. I bought a JDM engine to put into my '90 P04W which is the 2WD LHD USA version of a P25W Delica and the engine had EGR and device #3. The EGR is vacuum operated and would be controlled by a solenoid actuated valve. EGR stands for exhaust gas recirculator and the actuator is on the top-aft of the intake manifold. It can be disabled without adverse affect and is what they are disabling in the get rid of the black smoke ads. Disabling consists of stopping the exhaust from entering the intake air stream.
