Hello everyone!
I've just sign in. My name is Sebastian and a member of the British Columbia Scientific Cryptozoology Club (BCSCC) and Westcoast Sasquatch Research. I run some field investigations and documentary film projects on the sasquatch sightings in southern BC as well as other unknown creatures in BC/Yukon. Currently, I have a Isuzu Trooper. But lately, the truck spent more time in the shop than on the road (things went wrong after another). Now I am sitting at home in front of the computer during this long weekend because my truck broke down (again). So, I need to find a reliable truck/van with 4WD and room.
I am thinking about buying a Delica. Do you think that it is better to buy one from dealers or private owners? I am looking for a manual tran. Also is there any aftermarket rear diff locker for Delica (like Lock right or ARB) or if the van has options like LSD? Thanks and have a great long weekend.
cheers,
sebastian

Re: Planning to buy a Delica
As a long time Delica purchase researcher;
1: Transmission choice is almost completely personal preference, both are durable with plus and minus to each.
• Manual has a lower gear ratio better for 4x4'ing at the expensive of Hwy driving RPM's. Clutches on a 15 year van with around 100 grand of km's will need replacement in short order.
• Automatics are plentiful and have excellent service history. Comments indicate they suit a Delica very well; high seat position, more time to slow down and enjoy the view.
LSD differentials seem to only be available on the very high end Delicas, and JDM's in general appear to follow this trend. But a Canadian user would be better suited to a base model JDM for heavy backcountry use. UK and Australian Delica forums have information concerning lockers, and ARB and Lokka lockers have been installed on the L300. The ARB's could require obtaining a front differential from a Pajero to fit. I have personal contacted lock-rite about the Delica, they where very help but are unable to find a model to fit the Delica.
Welcome and good hunting!

Re: Planning to buy a Delica
I have never heard of a 24V delica, HOWEVER, many have 2 batteries, but they are wired for more current not more voltage... helps with cold starting and such
