New owner with some questions.

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

New owner with some questions.

Post by Chino »

Hey everyone,

Just picked up my first delica, promptly named "Chester the Molester"... Inside joke I guess... But anyways, I have a few questions for the vets out there.

1994 Delica L300 Special edition (GLX is what they call it?) Crystal light roof, Jet black, Hot! 97k on the engine, with all the usual jazz done to it. Runs great so far, no smoke or rough starts on start up in the cold (-1c)...

1: Ideal engine rpm at idle? When its warm I'm around 500rpm to 600rpm. I get a bit of vibration that I think shouldn't be there, would this be due to the low rpm at idle? Or how do I check my motor mounts and figure out if they need to be replaced? It's my first diesel so it could be that as well.

2: EGR blanking plate! Where do I chuck this chunk of metal and how do I do it? Is there anyone that has a picture of the engine that would show me where this dealio is, apparently its stupid simple to apply. Anybody not recommend doing this?

3: Haynes manual? Is there one and where could I get one without ordering online? Shitty tire doesn't carry it.

4: Any recommendations for the delica?

Thanks for the help in advance. This site is fracken awesome.

Oh, one last thing.

One of my crystal light shades don't work, I've heard its a crap shoot to fix? Sounds like the motor still works but there is this wire that is hanging down from the shade. I'm no Sherlock Holmes but my guess is that the wire is the culprit?

To start with read this link: Welcome to Delica Canada: Read This Before ......

(1) I like 750RPM
(2) See above link.
(3) See above link.
(4) Come to a mini meet sometime. Watch the events pages in the board index for your area and if you happen to be on the mainland this Thursday then there will be one at IKEA in Coquitlam, just off the No.1.

Thanks for the help Falco.

With the RPM, I do get 750 when I have it in park. Although in drive, when I come to a stop it hovers from 500 - 600. Am I to adjust the idling speed to 750 when in drive then? And will that increase my RPM when I'm in park?

You set your idle when in Park. If you are stopped at a light but still in Drive then your transmission will keep a load on the engine, keeping the RPM down. Sounds like your machine is running correctly.

You're welcome. At long stop lights I will shift into Neutral and put my E-brake on. This is good for relaxing your feet and it takes the load off of the tranny. When you see the other light go amber then put it back into Drive. Be aware of what your vehicle is doing, for instance ~ when you put the E-brake on see that your wagon isn't moving. These are well built machines but they are over fifteen years old, so it pays to look into the upkeep of them. I see it in this respect: My Delica is my friend and if I look after my friends, they look after me. I feel the same way about my tools, too.

In the link I posted are references to many good things, one I will direct your attention now: To Do list on newly acquired Delica

This is a very useful list to understand because it helps you to understand your machine, even if you don't need to do anything on it.
